This isn’t the first stab at an “in-car gaming system” we’ve seen, but it may be the most novel. Carcade! is an “augmented reality in-car videogame” designed by students at the Berlin University of the Arts. Using a webcam, the landscape is captured and incorporated into the game itself, letting you navigate the hellish urban environment that you call home with a little spacecraft just like you’ve always wanted to. The faster and more erratically your friend drives, the more difficult game play becomes — we just wish we could play it on the window itself instead of a laptop. This would be just the thing for those cross-country road trips, though it might get a little dull while passing through the vast alkali plains of The Great American Desert. Watch the Carcade! road test after the break.

We spotted this demo light gun on the floor of TGS2008. The cagey booth attendant wouldn’t tell us if it will ever hit retail shelves, but the frankensteined (see the external batteries?) device was certainly working with a PS3 and projector here in Tokyo. We’re all for some wireless light gun action, so bring it on, Light Gun Zero. That is, if you can. Oh, and if you can get rid of that unusual battery pack. Okay, thanks.

We usually refrain from discussing specific movies here on PS3Fanboy except on our weekly release posts, but this movie definitely warrants a mention. The summer’s biggest blockbuster Dark Knight has a release date and it is December 9th for the MSRP of $35.99. According to High-Def Digest, this 2-disc Blu-ray set will include the 153-minute feature film on a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/VC-1 video and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. The disc will also include some yet-unannounced BD-Live-enabled content, as well as a digital copy of the film. It is now available for pre-order on Amazon for $24.95. Full list of extras, after the break.

We already know that NeuroSky is bringing us the mind-reading Mindset for your gaming pleasures, but we got a first-hand look at the device here at TGS. At first glance, the headset may appear to be just another white set of over-the-ear headphones, but a little boom that gets all cuddly with your forehead measures how well you are concentrating on in-game objects. While this may sound like a bunch of hoopla, keep in mind that mega-developer Square Enix is already on board with “Judecca,” a zombie thriller that forces you to concentrate your way into seeing your enemies. After holding up your hand, you then concentrate on a glyph that glows in direct relation to your ability to concentrate, opening up what’s called your Devil’s Eye. Once you’re in a zen-like state, you can see Judecca’s zombies and unleash some kill. You can also show your concentration skills enough to walk through walls, naturally. In our limited time trying the tech with Judecca, we were indeed able to induce some sort of concentrative state, even with the distractions of a giant Japanese gaming convention. As for how long we’d want to play something like this before switching to something involving, say, just pushing buttons and killing enemies, we’re not so sure. NeuroSky promises the device in Spring 2009 for a price somewhere between $50 and $80. Hit the break for a couple shots of the device and a very tense gamer.

Prince of Persia Classic is a remake of the original Prince of Persia which debuted on the Apple II, with improved graphics, new enemies and better controls. The game was released on XBLA July of last year, but according to an article published on Sony’s Games and Media News site last week, it will be headed for PSN as well. This confirms a ESRB listing we noticed back in July. No word on a release date or price, but we are assuming pricing-wise, it will remain the same as its XBLA counterpart, which means it shall cost $10.

Speaking to 1UP, Alex Evans of Media Molecule apparently confirmed that the many user-generated levels from the LittleBigPlanet will remain in the final game. Earlier today, we told you about a poll that Media Molecule was running to decide whether or not those levels should stay. The voting will continue, but simply to gauge the reactions of the community — though with 82% currently in favor of preserving the creations, it looks like Media Molecule made the right choice. So if you are in the beta now with an especially exotic creation, you can relax and you don’t have to worry about losing your work.

While it’s not exactly a huge surprise given that Nintendo doesn’t have an overarching account system for the Wii and DS, plenty of folks will no doubt still be disappointed to learn that the company’s new Nintendo Points won’t be transferable between the two consoles. Instead, when you buy a points card (available in 1000, 3000 and 5000 points versions), you’ll have to pick a console and spend all the points in that one place. Not exactly an ideal option, to be sure, but it seems like it’s one that we’ll be stuck with — unless Nintendo has some plans to make some major changes to the way the Wii and DSi do business.

Our archenemy friend with the coolest name Xav de Matos attended the Sony Holiday event in Toronto, Canada and has written up impressions of upcoming PlayStation 3 titles on our sister site Joystiq. The Killzone 2 hands-on even includes a little bit of cam footage. And best of all, because it was a Sony event, all multiplatform games played were the PS3 versions, so it is definitely worth checking out:
