Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey was in ”the loo” when she was inspired to write ”Hero.”The singer has revealed the idea for her hit track came to her while she was using the bathroom.

Mariah, 38, said: “Sometimes I wake up and in the middle of the night and have an idea and have to get up and record it straight away before I forget it.”

“Or with ‘Hero,’ I was in the studio and someone was telling me about this film ‘Hero’ with Dustin Hoffman in it.”

“I took a walk to the loo and when I came back I had this idea for a song, and that was what then became ‘Hero.’”

Mariah - who appeared on UK TV talent show “The X Factor” last weekend - also revealed she still finds it hard to control her nerves when she is performing live.

She added to British TV series “This Morning”: “I really used to get very nervous and I would have to try so hard to stay calm before shows, but it’s hard.”

“I come from a studio background and I had to learn doing it live in front of the world.”

“On shows like ‘American Idol’ at least they get training to sing live.”

Juliana Margulies
Awww, Juliana, you don’t want to come back to County?

Seems like we’ve been hearing news about old ER members coming back to the show for its final season, and now comes word from Juliana Marguiles. The actress says that she won’t be coming back to the show because she thinks that Carol Hathaway left on a good note and she really can’t see how they could top it. A lot of fans would probably say they don’t want them to top the character’s last appearance, they just want to see the character one more time before the series fades off into the sunset.

Holy shit.

Jesse Metcalfe from Desperate Housewives has fallen from a 40 feet balcony. Somehow..he has NO BROKEN BONES! WTF!? How the hell does that happen?

If I fell from that shit I would become some sort of human salsa. But this dude survived.

Miracle.

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes has befriended Peaches Geldof.

The unlikely friendship came about after the 19-year-old British presenter asked to interview the actress as part of a stint working for New York magazine Nylon.

The pair got on well immediately, with 29-year-old Katie - who has a two-year-old daughter, Suri, with husband Tom Cruise – sharing acting tips with the teen star.

A source revealed: “Peaches went to see Katie in the play ‘All My Sons’ and sent her a lovely letter asking if she could interview her for Nylon.”

“The pair soon hit it off and enjoyed afternoon tea at a suite in the Rivington Hotel. Peaches played with Suri while Katie read through some film scripts.”

“Katie gave her some brilliant advice and Peaches says she is genuinely one of the nicest people she’s met and Suri is a doll.”

It appears Katie’s advice is already paying off – Peaches has been asked to audition for the “Sex and the City” sequel.

The source added to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “She’s ecstatic. She’s now on Nylon TV and it’s been a great showcase for Peaches.”

“She’s already caught the eye of ‘Ugly Betty’ producers and now she’s on the list to audition for the ‘Sex and the City’ sequel.”

“It’s very early days but it shows she’s being taken seriously in New York, something she didn’t feel she was in London.”

She’s already smelled success with three best-selling fragrances, Lovely, Covet and Covet Pure Bloom, and now, Sarah Jessica Parker has announced she’ll be adding three more scents to her budding fragrance empire. The upcoming Lovely Collection, which will hit stores early next year, will feature a line-up of three distinct new scents: Dawn, Endless and Twilight. Launching the three Coty fragrances at once might seem like a bold move, but the Sex and the City star explains to WWD that the idea developed naturally out of her overall vision. “I wanted to offer a little glimpse into my world, something that was genuine and relatable — very specific moments, treasures of time,” she says. “The concept of moments lent itself to multiple fragrances.” Tell us: Will you try Dawn, Endless and Twilight when they launch in 2009?

DuffNot the TV character from several years back. Actress Hilary Duff. She has just signed a one year deal with NBC to star in a new series.

Duff has been concentrating on movies and music since Lizzie McGuire ended in 2004 (the show lasted four years, but it was actually only two seasons, plus a big screen movie). According to Variety, Duff was going to be in a series for CBS in 2004, but it wasn’t picked up.

As part of the deal, Duff is going to guest star in several NBC shows, as well, maybe as a tune up for starring in her own show and promotion for herself and the show. I wonder how they’ll pick which shows she’ll guest star in? After the jump, some suggestions.

Baldwin toilet paperIt’s not Jon Hamm’s John Ham, but it’s pretty good.

30 Rock airs on Comedy Central in the Netherlands, and as a special promotion for the show, Modernista has created this special toilet paper featuring the likeness of Alec Baldwin, aka NBC executive Jack Donaghy). This could open up a whole new market for NBC, since they’re always looking for new avenues for cross-promotion and product placement and marketing. How about Syler on a roll of Bounty paper towels? Dwight Schrute pizza rolls? Stickers with the face of Donald Trump on fruit?

They should really try to integrate this into an episode somehow. Can you imagine the embarrassment Jack would have and the great jokes that Liz and the writing staff could come up with? Of course, I’m sure you folks can come up with a bunch of jokes too and I’m sure we’re about to read them in the comments section below.

I’ve already told you about the excellent news that Julie Taymor is cooking up a Tempest starring Helen Mirren. Now The Hollywood Reporter has listed two other names added to the already impressive cast list: Chris Cooper and Reeve Carney. Cooper will play that dastardly usurper Antonio, while Carney gets to be the son of the king of Naples, or in other words, the son of Jeremy Irons. Between the material, and Taymor, and this cast, I predict one hell of an amazing Shakespeare adaptation. But even if it’s merely a fraction of Titus, it should still be good.

And there’s also that little bit about Jean Claude Van Damme heading back to the world of Universal Soldier. Remember how he said that he was told that there wouldn’t be any value in casting Dolph Lundgren? Well, now MTV has talked to Mr. Lundgren, who says that is “absolutely untrue.” In fact, he goes on to say he’s been resisting the film because it needs some work. He thinks it should be all Dolph and Jean-Claude again. I just can’t believe the guy who wants to be taken seriously (JCVD) is in a movie even Lundgren wouldn’t sign up for.

In much more vanilla news — Variety reports that Meryl Streep is going to the cats. Well, more precisely, she’s signed on to star in Dewey — a film about “a stray cat’s impact on the town of Spencer, Iowa.” If that sounds too random to be fiction, that’s because it is. The fact-based story is about the author of Dewey (Streep), Vicky Myron, who was working at the local library when a kitten got into the library on a cold night through the after-hours book slot. The feline then became a library mascot and heart-warmer. A pretty damned cute one too.
