Onkyo MHP-UW2 iPod Wireless Headphones

Wires can be pretty annoying, although they have the merit of conveying signals in a better way than many wireless solutions - and it’s cheap! So, if headphones wires do annoy you, the Onkyo MHP-UW2 might be part of the solution. It’s a pair of Bluetooth headphones that comes with a emitter that attaches to the iPod to broadcast music for up to 8 hours before the battery runs out of juice. I like the headphones, but the emitter blows it - it’s too big and too ugly. The real solution to this is to have Apple add Bluetooth into the next-gen iPods.

When The Dark Knight hits DVD on December 9th, it will cause hysteria not seen since … well, it hit theaters on July 18th. Part of it will be due to those devoted fans who were buying tickets on eBay, but also be due to it receiving one heck of a release. DVD Active gives us a few details on the DVD, and you can scope out some photos of this year’s hottest stocking stuffer below.

First comes the standard 1-disc edition, for those buyers who just don’t care about flashy extras or DVD art. There will be no bonus features on the one-disc, so buy carefully. True fans will be opting for the 2-disc set, which includes these delightful extras:

  • Gotham Uncovered documentary
  • Featurettes (Batman Tech: The Incredible Gadgets and Tools, Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of The Dark Knight)
  • 6 episodes of Gotham Cable’s Premier News Program
  • Galleries (The Joker Cards, Concept Art, Poster Art, Production Stills)
  • Trailers and TV spots
And if that wasn’t enough, the 2-disc DVD art will feature alternate art under its cardboard sleeve — it seems the Joker savaged each and every one of them with markers and crayons (see gallery below).

There’s also a third edition the really hardcore among you will be standing in line for, and that’s the limited edition pictured above. It doesn’t come with additional features, but is secured in a steel DVD case and accompanied by a replica Batpod. As it’s not actually big enough to ride or pivot on walls, it’s useless to me. But it’s ideal for those of you with lots of desk space!

In related news: The brand new edition of Production Weekly lists Batman 3 as going into pre-production this February, with Christopher Nolan directing. PW is a pretty reliable trade source, though it’s odd to see news like that hit there before arriving in, say, Variety. As always, more info when it develops …

If you think back to the warmer days of summer, you might remember that Jessica posted about an upcoming Internet porn flick called Middle Men. Set to be a comedy, the film was said to follow some normal dude who ends up in the center of that biz we call adult entertainment during the early days of Internet porn (mid-90s, I guess?).

And now we have our men of porn. Variety reports that James Caan, Gabriel Macht, Peter Stormare, and Rachael Taylor have signed on for the film, which will star Luke Wilson and Giovanni Ribisi — all in yet-to-be-disclosed parts. The film is also sounding a wee bit different these days. Yes, it’s still about some regular guy — a “straight-and-narrow businessman who builds the first online billing company dealing exclusively with adult entertainment.” But then there’s a bit of an insane twist. He finds “himseld in the middle of a whirlwind filled with starlets, conmen, Russian mobsters, federal agents, and international terrorists.”

Well, this is nothing like I expected — dudes spending late nights on Stile Project’s old cam pages while girls contort themselves while basking in the glow of their monitors. Maybe writers George Gallo (who will direct) and Andy Weiss were hanging out with Guy Ritchie. How terrorists, conmen, and Russian mobsters all get involved is anyone’s guess, but it’s kind of hard not to be intrigued with that cast.

Lily Allen

LILY ALLEN seemed such a down-to-earth girl on a shopping trip to Argos and then Woolies where she picked up a clothes airer.
The image of Lil as an unpampered pop star evaporated, though, with her advert on Facebook for a personal assistant.
She wrote: “Lily is wondering why nobody wants to be her PA. She’s nice really.”
Obviously, Lily needs somebody to do things like buy clothes airers – and stop her airing her dirty laundry on t’internet.

A storm’s arrival typically isn’t something to celebrate, but we’re going to make a notable exception here seeing how the BlackBerry Storm is less of a destructive weather pattern and more of an incredibly hot smartphone — arguably RIM’s hottest to date. Fit to its business-savvy roots, the long-rumored handset comes equipped with the most comprehensive global roaming capabilities of virtually any wireless device you’ll find anywhere, featuring EV-DO Rev. A, quadband EDGE, and 2100MHz HSPA for Europe.

Beyond that, the Storm becomes RIM’s very first touchscreen phone, mounting a 3.26-inch 480 x 360 glass display on a unique clickable surface so that the entire thing can be pressed downwards — just like a real button — for tactile feedback when making selections.

The phone also includes a full HTML finger-navigable browser, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint editing capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0, 1GB of on-board storage with an 8GB microSD card bundled in the box, 3.5mm headphone jack, automatic orientation and ambient lighting sensors, and a 3.2-megapixel autofocus cam with dedicated flash, making it a legitimate jack-of-all-trades that seems likely to be able to handle even the most chaotic personal and professional lives users can throw its way.

It’ll allegedly do 15 days of standby or 5.5 hours of talk time on either GSM or CDMA networks.

No word on pricing yet — we’re told all will be revealed “in the coming weeks” — but it’ll launch on both Verizon and Vodafone in November.

On top of the list of common misconceptions here at our fine site is that there is never any good news concerning Home. We kid, we kid. We do actually have some good news though — during Sony’s Japanese press conference, it was announced that Home’s open beta is on track for release in Japan later in the month. The open beta will end in November, at which time we take for granted, in the absence of proof to the contrary, that the final product will be released.

Additionally, it was announced that 24 additional publishers have just signed on to create content for Home. Jem noted that Square Enix is conspicuously absent, but the inclusion of some of the big boys like Disney and Activision does provide a bit of relief. No word on whether this carries over to the North American or European versions. List of the publishers after the break.

Thanks to Kim Kardashian, you should hide your 14-year-old daughters in a basement.

I don’t even know if her posting this piture is legal. This sort of triggers the minds of any pedophiles……like Hulk Hogan.  And it just makes everyone feel a little uncomfortable.

Like hey it’s a good picture..but then again it’s a step away from kiddie porn. (Ew)
