Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley has topped a poll of perfect pouts.

The “The Duchess” star beat “Wanted” actress Angelina Jolie to the number one spot in a public survey by lip care company Blistex.

Keira, 23, has previously said she doesn’t think her pursed lips are attractive, claiming it makes her look like she is having trouble with her bowel movements.

She said: “I don’t pout to be sexy. I do it when I’m concentrating. I think it makes me look constipated.”

Pop princess Kylie Minogue took third place in the poll of 3,000 women.

The worst pout slot went to British actress Leslie Ash, who suffered an allergic reaction to collagen injection.

She was closely followed by troubled singer Amy Winehouse and British glamor model Jodie Marsh.

Keira has recently claimed she would be terrified if she had to give an Oscar acceptance speech.

She said: “I would probably s**t myself if I had to give a speech.”

Blistex poll of the top 10 perfect pouts:
1. Keira Knightley
2. Kylie Minogue
3. Angelina Jolie
4. Scarlett Johansson
5. Victoria Beckham
6. Jennifer Aniston
7. Kelly Brook
8. Cameron Diaz
9. Jessica Alba
10. Charlotte Church

Nyko Wing Classic Controller

Wii owners who want to go wireless can pick up this third party solution - the Nyko Wing Classic Controller. All you need to do is plug in a wireless dongle into the bottom of the Wiimote and you’re good to go - as long as you don’t venture beyond the 10 foot radius that Nyko prescribes. A couple of AA batteries is good for up to 30 hours of use, but I would say realistically it will be a couple of hours or so off from the given figure. Good thing it come with a USB port and cable, letting you juice up rechargeable batteries while remaining connected and gaming simultaneously. The Nyko Wing Classic Controller will be available this October for $29.99 a pop.

It’s so creepy when something you just found yourself chatting about with a fellow geek pops up in your newsfeed — proof that Magdalena does answer to a higher power! If you were praying for an update, MTV has not one, but an entire week they’re devoting to the spear-wielding superheroine.

MTV has a video interview up with the lovely Jenna Dewan, who’s playing Patience, the most recent inheritor of the Magdalena powers. According to her, they’re following the comic book pretty closely except for one touchy area — while honoring Magdalena’s heritage and bloodline, they’re sidestepping the religious element of the book. “When I started this I said I didn’t want it to be a religious movie - the Catholic Church versus everyone else. I wanted it to be somebody who knows she has something inside bigger [than herself], this spiritual want to help people,” Dewan said. “That’s really what we’re focusing on - fighting the darkness for the light, rather than the Catholic Church and religion. There is that element of it but it’s more about fighting people who are evil in this world.”

Now, I always thought of the Magdalena as the girl version of Stephen Sommers’ Gabriel Van Helsing and not particularly controversial, but we do live in touchier, Golden Compass censoring times. As Dewan points out, Patience is one of the only Magdalenas who questions the authority of the Church and decided she would work independent of its control. Wouldn’t it have been cool to see that religious conflict onscreen? Ah well. My previous jokes about chastity and skimpy costumes aside, I’m happy to see Gale Anne Hurd bringing another tough chick (and one from the comics, no less) to the screen — with or without the sacrilege.

It wasn’t any secret that the Xbox 360 was getting a price cut in the next week or so, and now it’s official — Major Nelson just confirmed that as of September 5th, the Arcade will be $199, the Pro will be $299, and the Elite will be $399. No motion controller, goofy Live starter pack, or tweaked controller to be found, but we’re not arguing with price cuts.

Update: Here’s the Microsoft press release.

We won’t kid ourselves here — you know good and well what Nokia’s N96 looks, feels and tastes like, but given that it just started shipping in Europe within the last 24 hours, we figured it prudent to pass along the first proper unboxing of the retail unit. Like we said, don’t expect any surprises with this one, but we still suspect you’ll leave the video waiting after the jump with a smile on your face.

[Thanks, Steve]

While the HD format wars are over, Blu-ray still has a long way to go before it can tackle its main competitor: DVD. Many consumers still haven’t converted to Sony’s next-gen format, and Samsung UK director Andy Griffiths doesn’t believe there’s much time left for Sony’s format. “I think it [Blu-ray] has 5 years left, I certainly wouldn’t give it 10″, Griffiths told Pocket-lint in an interview.

The time to capitalize on Blu-ray is now, the Samsung head said. “It’s going to be huge”, he told Pocket-lint. “We are heavily back-ordered at the moment.” The company is one of few that’s heavily invested in the format, with numerous Blu-ray players available on the market.

There will always be new formats on the horizon, but we find it unlikely that Blu-ray will extinguish in so little time. With HD adoption still slowly growing, so too will Blu-ray’s momentum. Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see where home video stands in the next decade.

The first thing you should do when you get your new laptop or computer is uninstall all that free trial crap that gets loaded on by the manufacturer. Six Months of Earthlink, two weeks of Adobe Photoshop Elements, McAfee Anti-Virus, one month of MusicMatch… who needs it? Not you! (Besides eventually charging you money, a lot of these programs you didn’t ask for can slow down your computer.)

Now that you’ve cleared out some room on that hard drive, start installing some of these free and useful applications, many of which are open source (meaning anyone can view and alter the code of the program to improve or customize it if they have the skill or desire). Here are 25 applications — almost all of them free — that will let you do almost anything you could need to on your computer, without you having to spend a dime.

Ad-Aware
(Windows XP and Vista)

One of the biggest annoyances and dangers online is the dearth of spyware, adware, and other random software that gets silently installed on your PC by thieves, hackers, and disreputable sites — at best, it slows down your system; at worst, it spies on your computing activity and lets online scammers steal passwords and other sensitive information. Cleaning the malicious code that gets loaded on your PC is a hassle and a half, especially if you don’t have a tool like Ad-Aware to do most of the heavy lifting for you. Ad-Aware searches the files and registry entries on your computer and matches them against a list of known malicious software. After it reports back its findings, it will either delete or quarantine the offending code, saving you the trouble of searching through the daunting Windows registry yourself. We’ve found Ad-Aware to be the easiest and least resource-heavy of these anti-ad-and-spy-ware tools.

Crème Brûlée Stout
My husband spotted crème brûlée stout by Southern Tier Brewing Company on a beer menu at at new local restaurant. Ordering it was a no brainer. We had to give it a try! The first thing we noticed as it arrived at our table was the smell. It smelled just like crème brûlée - a very unexpected scent when you stick your nose into a beer bottle.

The crème brûlée stout tasted like someone poured a ton of vanilla syrup into their beer. It was really sweet and very crème brûlée - like, but also definitely tasted like beer. Oddly enough, the combination was great! After we tried it, several other people at the table ordered their own. We drank ours with the meal, but you could just as easily have it for dessert on its own or as a beer float with some cinnamon ice cream.

I would definitely try it again. But maybe, I’ll just pour some vanilla syrup into a regular stout instead. It would be cheaper.
