We’re still amazed at the incredible amount of content Criterion is adding to Burnout Paradise … for FREE. The PS3-loving guys at Criterion uploaded new shots to the PlayStation.blog, and boy does this FREE update look incredible. This is the first time bikes have been implemented in the Burnout series … and did we mention this content will be FREE?

The developers promise that the bike pack will add about 9-10 hours of gameplay, and 70 new challenges. Other games barely include that much content out of the box. More exciting however: “every new pack we build for Burnout Paradise is grander than the last.” And we know that they’re not going to just stop at bikes …

Rumors are doing rounds that Salman Khan is planning to put an end to his acting career, and plans to settle down with his ladylove far away from noisy and blaring Mumbai.

After a week spent wandering the halls of Tales of the Cocktail in July 2008, sipping many finely stirred and shaken libations; I said to myself, “These special cocktails need to be shared with the world.” So I bring you Cocktail Hour, a finer way to celebrate the end of the day; with these recipes. They have either been created specifically for Tales of the Cocktail, or re-designed for a new approach on the traditional version by some of the top Mixologists in the world. Many are being presented to the public here for the first time. Enjoy!

50-50 Manhattan recipe after the jump.

It has taken its sweet, sweet time in arriving, but it seems the iPhone Nike+ running application is just… about… here. A slew of new screenshots of the application have emerged, and while there are no juicy tidbits to accompany ‘em (release date, cost, etc.), we all know how many lines of text a single snapshot is worth. Hang tight runners, the app you’ve been waiting (and waiting) for can’t be far from the finish line now. [Via MacRumors]

Update: And to think, we actually believed that Nike and Apple were this close to delivering the long-awaited running application for the iPhone. While it was widely bruited that these shots were indeed the real deal, AppleInsider is pointing out a chink in the armor: Cupertino doesn’t offer iPhone developers a programming interface for accessing one’s music, yet this mysterious program clearly showed someone listening to Chris Martin and friends while attempting to make it to 0.02km. The take away? It’s still pretty likely that the two outfits are working to create a fitness program for the App Store, but those screenshots ain’t it. [Thanks, Michael]

Rock Band 2 delay

Buh. So, this is getting confusing. According to sources over at ShackNews, the Rock Band 2 Special Edition bundle that was originally set to launch on September 14 exclusively on Xbox 360 will hit stores on October 19. For you fanboys keeping score, that’s the same date that the game will hit for other consoles. It’s still not clear if the game and instruments will still show up on retail shelves on September 14, but if you were looking to get your groove on in September, you may want to chill.

Okay, pretend you had absolutely no inclination that this so-called KickStart was real. Surprise! E-tailer expansys has spoiled RIM’s thunder (no silly, not that Thunder) by posting up detailed product pages for both the BlackBerry 8220 (WiFi) and BlackBerry 8210 (GPS). The current specs list points out a 2.6-inch 320 x 240 primary display, 160 x 128 pixel secondary display, 2-megapixel camera (with LED flash), video recording and a microSDHC slot. There’s no price or release date listed for either, but at least you can shelve those worries of this thing never making it to market.

Once you get a taste of Smart People, deal with Eddie Murphy’s Nowhereland, take on a stalkerific Sandra Bullock, and then steal Kate Hudson’s work, it’s time to get into some dark drama.

Variety reports that Thomas Haden Church has signed on to star in a new indie film called Don McKay, with the likes of Elisabeth Shue, Melissa Leo, M. Emmet Walsh, and Keith David. Coming from writer/director Jake Goldberger and shielded by a Screen Actors Guild waiver, the $5 million project just started production in Boston. The film focuses on a man who leaves his hometown after a tragedy forces him to do so. Twenty-five years later, he comes back when he hears that “his long-lost love is dying.” Not surprisingly, his return spins “a web of confusion, deceit, and murder.” Old secrets never die in the movie world.

Church says that it’s a passion project that he’s been trying to develop with Goldberger since Sideways. Aside from the confusion that it should evoke from those into Canadian poetry, this sounds like an interesting project — especially with this cast.

Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate says she is ”100 per cent free” of cancer. The 36-year-old actress, who revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this month, has beaten the disease following a successful course of treatment.

She told US TV show “Good Morning America”: “I’m clear. Absolutely 100 per cent clear and clean. They got everything out so I’m definitely not going to die from breast cancer.”

The “Samantha Who?” star also spoke of her shock when a second MRI scan revealed she had the life-threatening disease.

She added: “I was so mad and I just remember I was shaking. And then also immediately, I had to go into the ‘take-care-of-business-mode.’”

“I asked them, ‘What do I do now? What – what is it that I do? I get a doctor, I get a surgeon, I get an oncologist? What do I do?’”

Christina – who has had regular mammograms to check for the disease after her mother also battled it – changed her diet in a bid to get well.

She explained: “I immediately made those appointments and immediately called around for someone to start teaching me how to live macrobiotically.”

A macrobiotic diet consists mainly of fish, beans and vegetables, and avoiding processed foods.

Bose SoundDock Series II

Bose has updated its SoundDock with the Series II that will see iPhone compatibility thrown in for good measure, in addition to auxiliary inputs as well as a slight redesign on the exterior. It maintains an almost similar footprint as with the original, and is compatible with almost all iPods as well as both iPhones. Both the speakers and wiring on the SoundDock Series II have been shielded from cell interference, allowing you to use it without having to opt for an “airplane mode” as found in other devices that are not shielded. Interested parties will be able to pick up the SoundDock Series II for $299 when it is released this September.

TMDisplay 2.2-inch OLED Panel

TMDisplay has just unveiled the 2.2″ OLED panel that manages to squeeze out QVGA quality graphics with a lifetime of 60,000 hours (more than enough to last you until the device it comes with is long outdated) and sips just 100mW of juice when in use. This tiny OLED panel will enter production from March 2009 onwards, targeting handsets primarily along with other mobile devices. I would say smaller portable media players will be a huge chunk of the market as well. TMDisplay has yet to decide the scale of production as at press time.
