Salman Khan is genuinely in love with Katrina Kaif, as he doesn’t like romancing his girl on the screen so that their respect and dignity is not lost in the eyes of the viewers.
He says, “For the first time, in ‘Yuvraj’ we have been paired as a romantic lead. However, I feel awkward. Besides, the […]

It’s one thing to craft a home theater that keeps guests coming back weekend after weekend, but it’s another to create one that keeps them rolling (literally) in by the dozens. Kevin Van fulfilled what we can only imagine was a mid-20s fantasy by building his very own backyard theater, complete with an Epson 77c projector, homemade 6-foot retractable screen and 8 vintage drive-in speakers rigged up to deliver 5.1 surround sound on his deck and 2-channel stereo around the pool.
There’s also a concession stand, a homegrown outdoor subwoofer being pushed by 1,100 watts and a whole slew of other audio / video components. Those cruising through Fraser, Michigan should seriously look this guy up — sounds like a great way to spend a few hours. [Via UberReview]

The tale of the battling Pablo Escobar flicks is still going strong, but despite the bad news that Javier Bardem has officially dropped out of Joe Carnahan’s Killing Pablo, all is not lost for his true-life crime tale. CHUD recently received an email from the man himself, and Carnahan tells them, “I spent the last week in Colombia with Edgar Ramirez talking ‘Pablo’ and he has every intention of portraying Escobar and I couldn’t be more fired up by the prospect. He’s coming at it with boundless enthusiasm, conviction to the role and the understanding that he’s going to have to pack on anywhere from 35 to 40lbs.” Seems a shame to cover up all that ‘handsome’, but what can you do?
This is all quite a change from last February, when Collider had reported that Ramirez was the front-runner to star in Antoine Fuqua’s version of the life of the drug baron. So, I can only assume that the casting switch won’t be helping matters in the ongoing feud between the two projects. The only other cast that we were aware of was Christian Bale signing to play Major Steve Jacoby, but who knows what could happen between now and whenever Carnahan finally starts production.
Carnahan’s film is based on Mark Bowden’s book, Killing Pablo: The Hunt for the World’s Greatest Outlaw. The story claims to be the true tale of how Escobar was assassinated and his Medellín cocaine cartel was dismantled by US special forces. Of course no good conspiracy theory is complete without a few extra players, so some of the blame was also placed on the Colombian military and a vigilante gang controlled by a competing cartel.
Stay tuned to Cinematical for the official word, and sound off below on Ramirez picking up where Bardem left off…

One World One Dream.
The 2008 Summer Olympics have started with a lavish opening ceremony in Beijing. It brings goosebumps to view such a remarkable moment in history. There are 80 world leaders situated in Beijing and approx. 500,000 guests. Another thing that makes this day so memorable is the Chinese counting on the lucky number 8.
Eight is an extremely lucky number in China. It’s pronounced as bah and it links to prosperity. The Olympic Games began at 8:08:08 p.m. on 8/8/08. That brings shivers down my spine. It’s incredible how fortunate Beijing was to schedule the Olympics on this day at that time. Some have lost faith in the number 8 because 88 days before the Games began there was an earthquake killing nearly 70,000.
However, numerous Chinese still believe that the lucky number will guide them to Gold Medals.
Good Luck to all the teams, and may the games be safe!

Paris Hilton has revealed she is creating a new superhero based on herself.
The hotel heiress has been working with Stan Lee, who co-created the Spider-Man comic books, to invent a character for a new MTV cartoon.
She said: “Actually, I’ve created a superhero with Stan Lee, which is based on me, and we’re doing a cartoon right now with MTV.”
While Paris refused to divulge any details of the new collaboration, she did reveal her favorite superhero power.
She said: “I’d love to be invisible - that would be fun!”
Paris is no stranger to lending her name to various projects.
The 27-year-old beauty has her own perfume range, a line of hair extensions, a footwear line, and will release a sports collection later this year.
She also promotes RICH Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine sold in cans instead of bottles.
Paris - who is currently dating Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden - tried her luck at singing when she released her debut album “Paris” in 2006, and also attempted to display her writing skills with autobiographical book “Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose,” released in 2004.
Paris has starred in movies including “House of Wax,” “The Hottie and the Nottie” and can soon be seen in “Repo! The Genetic Opera.”

Close Up is an art table that will make drawing much more fun, featuring a light feature that facilitates tracing, sketching and observation. Heck, there are even integrated portable containers that can be used to store collected bugs and leaves, where a magnification lens acts as the container lid to help provide the budding artist with an even closer look at their nature collection. Designed by Carolina Peña Villarreal, this ought to be rolled out if latent artistic talent is to be discovered at home. I wonder why something like this has not been invented already.

Stock futures were higher Thursday morning, as bulls tried to answer to two bear days. Wal-Mart reported this morning, beating estimates and boosting guidance as well as Street sentiment. Still, coming ahead is inflation data at 8:30 a.m. Economists expect CPI to rise 0.4% in July, and could very well impact markets. Meanwhile, oil prices rose and the EU reported that euro-zone economy contracted 0.2% in the second quarter.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT), the world’s largest retailer, reported a second-quarter earnings growth of 17% to of $3.4 billion, or 87 cents a share, beating analyst estimates of profit of 84 cents a share. Revenue rose 10% to $101.6 billion, slightly below estimates. The company also boosted its full-year earnings forecast. The company benefited from the challenging economic conditions as shoppers looked for lower prices. Its cost cutting measures also helped. WMT shares are gaining nearly 1.5% in premarket trading.
As Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) shares rose in recent years, many have tracked its progress as it surpassed one major company after another in market capitalization. Well, All Things Digital noticed that Apple can put another check mark, this time as it passed Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG). Yes, Apple is now larger than Google.
Intel Corp. (NASDAQ: INTC) is announcing a new component with new technology that will let computers wake up from their power-saving sleep state when they receive a phone call over the Internet. No longer will computers have to remain full-powered to receive calls, enabling them to act as replacements for the telephone.
While Merrill Lynch & Co. (NYSE: MER)’s CEO John Thain vowed last week to maintain the firm’s 35-cent quarterly dividend, the options market doesn’t believe him and is pricing a significant cut of roughly 50% to the dividend. If it happens, it would the first since it went public in 1971.
Also battered by recent economic downturn and the slumping U.S. auto market, General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) is seeking to speed up the restructuring plan and said it may be able to reap more of the $10 billion in projected savings this year instead of in 2009. GM also had preliminary contact with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska on a possible sale of its Hummer brand, according to Reuters.

With the end of summer drawing near, it’s now time to begin the season’s autopsy on the Beat. If you’re totally burned out on discussing or reading anything to do with summer blockbusters, you may want to skip the next few columns - though I’d be terribly hurt if you did.
This week, I want to discuss the girls of summer geekdom. At the beginning of the season, I complained about the lack of superheroines in film, a trend that not even the summer flicks seem to be reversing. (Unless it’s a Top Cow property - it looks as though we will get Witchblade and Magdalena before we ever see Wonder Woman or Black Widow.) Nevertheless, women weren’t a complete nonentity in the franchises this year — some were quite interesting, some were merely bland, and a few were complete failures. I think it’s important that we recognize the good and the bad, and with that, let’s tally up the scorecard and hand out the prizes.
