We told you about Todd Phillips’ next directorial project, Hangover, way back in October, but there hasn’t been any further word on it since then. But apparently someone’s been thinking about it — The Hollywood Reporter says Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper are in final negotiations to star in it, and the flick is entering pre-production. In other words, stock up on your electrolytes, because Hangover is on its way.
Hangover is a comedy about three friends who wake up after some pre-wedding festivities in Las Vegas to discover that they have misplaced the groom. (I think we’ve all been there.) Helms and Cooper will be two of the friends; the third has not yet been cast. Presumably the groom is a relatively minor character, given that he is missing for much of the film.
Helms (on the left) is a favorite these days from his work on The Daily Show and The Office, while Cooper, probably best known for TV’s Alias and Kitchen Confidential, has slowly started adding movie comedies to his résumé. He shows up in this summer’s The Rocker as a heavy-metaller whose bandmates are Will Arnett, Fred Armisen, and Rainn Wilson, which is pretty good company, comedy-wise.
It’s worth noting that the Hangover, written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, was on the list of Hollywood insiders’ favorite unproduced screenplays of 2007. On the other hand, Lucas and Moore’s previous screenplay was the Martin Lawrence comedy Rebound. Still, one remains optimistic.
Phillips garnered a lot of fans for Old School in 2003, then stumbled with Starsky & Hutch and School for Scoundrels. Hangover sounds like a return to the Old School paradigm, and that sounds good to me. What do you think?

Yes, this is yet another post about behind-the-scenes drama on the Grey’s Anatomy set. We have written so many posts on Isaiah Washington, T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl here at TV Squad that I’m starting to believe there is a clause in the actors’ contracts stating that they must make the headlines one way or another every month! This month’s Grey’s Anatomy drama is once again sponsored by actress Katherine Heigl.
In June, Heigl bowed out of the Emmy race because she was not happy with the storylines given to her character last season. Fans and the press speculated that this also meant she wanted out of the ABC show. However, the actress confirmed she wanted to stay on the show. But what if the producers want her out? According to the latest rumor, that’s exactly what they want.

Should search engine optimisation (SEO) efforts be regulated by the Advertising Standards Agency? Recent discussions over whether or not the UK Code of Advertising Practice should apply to SEO have interested me considerably, because the existing rules simply cannot cater for the sector. Furthermore, while much of the recent debate has centred on whether or not the sector should impose self-regulating standards, I have seen considerably less debate about what those standards should be.
Kerry Nielson, the director of legal and public affairs with the Periodical Publishers Association, told the Association of Online Publishers that it is becoming “increasingly apparent” that some advertising platforms do not fall under the jurisdiction of the code and therefore cannot be investigated or regulated by the ASA. She called upon the online advertising sector to decide whether it wants self regulation or new, targeted legislation and makes some interesting points about the benefits and issues resulting from each possibility.
The ASA itself admits that, while paid-for advertising on the pages of search results fall under its remit, it cannot issue edicts on content which is not in paid-for online space.
However, it is hard to see how any regulator could exercise control on something as all-encompassing as search. The purpose of SEO is not to make wild claims about the brilliance of a product or service; it is, very simply, to shout down the competition. Well done SEO means drowning out all competing online voices, it means raising one company’s visibility at the expense of other firms.
This makes it a pretty unique form of marketing. When Coca Cola advertises its pop it does not follow that Pepsi has to make fewer adverts. There is no limited print space for advertising studenty food over which Pot Noodle and Supernoodles must wrestle. I believe this means that Ofcom or the ASA are unable to effectively monitor the sector, which suggests to me that self-regulation is necessary, if just to stop less-informed groups from imposing rules.
However, I also think that some fairly extensive debate and round table discussion should take place regarding precisely what those rules ought to be. Regulation is coming and we the industry need to act first.

Hello myspace whore. Miley Cyrus is the not only the most annoying person in the world, she also wins the whoriest child award.
Dude is that picture even legal. She’s like a f****ing fetus or some shit. So THESE pictures are from some cool ass hacker. Miley sent them via her phone to Nick Jonas! So this confirms that Nick is NOT a virgin . How shocking!!! Wait, wait they only had oral sex…stupid bitch oral sex is still sex.
But hasn’t anyone realized that Miley has the body of a 12-year-old boy…this might even confirm that Nick Jonas is gay! They probably don’t have to use condoms since they haven’t reached puberty yet- so that’s always a plus.
Disney must be super pleased that they introduce these shitty little dumpster sluts as role models for millions of children out there!!!

Victoria Beckham was involved in a terrifying plane incident.
The former Spice Girls singer was flying to London from Los Angeles with two of her children - five-year-old Romeo and three-year-old Cruz- when a bird flew into one of the plane’s engines as it taxied down the runway.
The pilot had to quickly apply the brakes, bringing the aircraft to a screeching halt.
A passenger on board the flight told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “It was really scary when the pilot suddenly slammed on the breaks.”
“We had no idea what was happening and you immediately fear the worst.”
“Young children were crying and for a moment I feared it was going to turn into a scene from a disaster movie.”
Fire crews quickly arrived on the scene to douse the engines with foam.
Victoria and her sons were ferried back to the airport separately from the other passengers to give her time to change out of the flight pajamas she was wearing.
The source added: “I was sitting a few rows back from Victoria and her sons, who were at the front of the plane.”
“Victoria wasn’t wearing any make-up and had changed into the pajamas provided by the airline.”
Her husband David and their eldest son, nine-year-old Brooklyn, were not on the flight.

Hello Kitty strikes again, this time in the form of the 1-Seg TV receiver. Of course, the most notable feature would be Hello Kitty’s face taking main stage on the pop-up screen design. When it is not used as a TV, you will be toting it around as a Hello Kitty face - something not every man would be willing to do. Power consumption is extremely low, as it sips a mere 1W from its rechargeable lithium ion battery that can last up to 4.5 hours per charge. Folks who collect all things Hello Kitty can pick this up in Japan this July 18th, and it will retail for a shade under $200 - $197 to be exact.

Hannspree has just announced new 19″ LCD TVs that take on a rather sporty theme, presumably just in time for the summer Olympics. All these three LCDs will retail for $279 each, and they will be available in basketball, soccer ball or baseball designs. Shared features include 1,280 x 1,024 resolution, a response time of 5ms and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1. For those on a tighter budget, you can always pick up the relatively cheaper $239 model known as the Slamma as it comes with a 700:! contrast ratio and a 1,440 x 900 resolution. Unfortunately, Hannspree did not mention when it will be released, but it ought to be sometime this summer.

Dylan Jobe reiterated some points we touched on previously, but also had a very strong statement that is sure to please Warhawk fans: “To earn the Warhawk Platinum Trophy, all you have to do is unlock the base game’s 44 Trophies…you do *NOT* have to buy any DLC to unlock the Platinum Warhawk Trophy. Forcing players to buy our DLC would be super-craptastic and completely unacceptable.” That should calm all you hardcore Warhawk players.

You paying attention, Redenbacher? Those daring kids at Instructables have created the USB Popcorn Maker from a high intensity heater light, aluminum cup, and mason jar. Add oil, non-Linux kernels, and salt and you’re ready to cozy-up in an uncomfortable three-some with the Wachowski Brothers. Unfortunately, the video posted after the break jump-cuts between USB attachment and the first corn kaboom. But given the 5V USB source, you’ll likely need plenty of time to get the oil boiling. Then again, nobody said this was practical. [Source: Instructables]
[Thanks, Sophia D.]
