Not one to just follow the crowd, BUILT has thrown an interesting twist on the oh-so-popular Neoprene laptop case. The Laptop Backpack enables users to tote their 12- to 17-inch machine right on their back along with textbooks, LAN party flyers and a copy of The Daily Bugle; you’ll also find a couple of smaller compartments for storing peripherals and accessories. The material itself is water- and stain-resistant, and the pack is available in two sizes to fit all but the most atypical of frames. According to BUILT, the new wave of laptop carrying should begin today at $80 a pop.

Far from being the first at-home biofuel kit we’ve seen, E-Fuel is hoping to target consumers with a hankering for fueling up their vehicle with homegrown goodness. The Micro Fueler claims to be the first backyard Ethanol brewer made specifically for use at one’s abode, and according to the outfit’s CEO, the premise behind it is quite simple. By mixing water, sugar and yeast, individuals can receive E100 Ethanol in a matter of hours. More specifically, it’s noted that a gallon of fuel can be derived from ten gallons of sugar, and while that may not sound like the most efficient conversion rate in the world, the company is quick to point out that costs can be lowered via federal, state and local credits along with carbon trading coupons. Those eager to start fueling up before they even leave the house can order one now for $9,995, though we’re told not to expect shipments until Q4. [Source: Popular Mechanics]

Actress Jennie Garth, who portrayed Kelly Taylor in almost 300 episodes of the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210, will appear on the series’ spin-off set to premiere this coming fall season on The CW. The actress, who will appear in a recurring capacity on the spin-off, will reprise the same role that helped put her on the map in the 1990s.
It’s not unusual to see original cast members make their way in spin-offs. And when said spin-offs have teens attending school, it’s a regular occurrence to see the original cast member be part of the school’s staff. Kelly Taylor is no exception here. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Kelly Taylor will become a guidance counselor at West Beverly Hills High. Nothing more is known at this point about the character and if other 90210 original cast members will join her on the show.
Jennie Garth was also part of the cast of What I Like About You and of Season 5 of Dancing with the Stars.

Ever since the numbers were released yesterday, anyone and everyone (as well as anyone who is everyone) has been talking Speed Racer — specifically, how a $120 million Hollywood blockbuster could open with only $20 million at the box office. You can blame Iron Man, you can blame the marketing, you can blame the blogs for trashing the film all year long, you can blame Christina Ricci’s weird haircut, or you can blame that judge on Project Runway for saying, “You can never have too much color!” Fact is, it missed the mark.
But what could’ve helped Speed Racer make more money in its opening weekend? The running time has been mentioned a lot in the past 24 hours, but a running time doesn’t exactly woo audiences into the theater. Is the film’s marketing 100% to blame? Should the trailers have been cut differently? Should they have stressed that this was a film for kids? Should they have added a little viral action into the mix? Or what about overall? From the beginning, were the Wachowski Brothers the right folks for the job? Should they have gone the animated route instead — or maybe the animated 3-D route? Should they have made this a film for older kids; slap on a PG-13 rating?
In your opinion, what could’ve helped Speed Racer — both in its opening weekend and in its development as a feature film?

Kristen Davis was shocked when she was asked to strip down for a shower scene in The Sex And The City movie. According to Davis, the writer/director Michael King wanted her to strip because she did not have a “no nudity” clause in her contract.
“He (King) tried to get me to be naked in that shower scene but I feel like I can’t do that stuff. I feel really panicky about that stuff.”
She finally agreed to a cut-down version of the scene.
Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker also refused to bare all. Cynthia Nixon is the only one who agreed to strip down.
Considering Davis appeared topless on the show multiple times, she’s probably insecure now that she’s older. Certain things just aren’t as perky as they used to be.

The majority of you will enjoy this DragonBall Z: Burst Limit video for what it does have: a heavy helping of awesome. Some of you will continue to be turned off by the graphical style. A few of you will make tired jokes about power levels. One of you will type “first” as your comment. It will be deleted. What are we talking about? We aren’t sure because our minds were melted by what will probably be the best-looking and has been the most promising DBZ title to date. Enjoy!

Although you can definitely pre-order an Aptera if you’re okay with space-aged design, Volkswagen is hoping to provide another option for those looking for ridiculous MPG and a little bit of normalcy in construction. Okay, so maybe the 1-Liter isn’t exactly standard fare — with its plastic / magnesium shell and all-glass roof — but at least it packs four whole wheels and an iconic VW badge, right?
According to Motor Authority, the automaker will be producing said vehicle and pushing it to market as early as 2010, and while the minuscule engine will only take you to 75MPH, it will still seat two people — one in front of the other, though — and get around 235MPG. No word on a price or any of that good stuff, but we’re hearing that they’ll only be produced in “limited numbers” whenever they’re launched. [Source: Motor Authority via EcoGeek, thanks Yossi]

Finally! Something the Officers of Opinion can have pride in taking votes for has come to pass. Perhaps some of you are not aware of the most recent GameTrailers debacle, but it goes something like this: a new racing game called GRID got its chance at a video comparison on their site and from the video posted, the 360 was implied to have more dynamic and compelling footage. The PS3 version seemed like a prettied-up last-gen borefest. However! GameTrailers used PS3 footage for both sides of the comparison. Watch the above video, ripped from their site with some added narrative, to draw your own conclusions then tell us what you think.
| What’s your take on the GameTrailers debacle? |
|
It was on purpose — this was to downplay the PS3. |
|
It’s a pretty convenient “accident”, but I’m not sure. |
|
It was an accident; there was a clerical error along the way. |
|
They messed up, but they probably feel bad about it. |
|
I don’t know what to think about this! |
|
Comparison videos are stupid anyway. |
|
My opinion is different than those mentioned above. |

First off, thanks to everyone who alerted us to this. The comparison video and all related comments have since been removed from their site, which is a telling sign they’ve recognized something had gone wrong. Whether it was their evil ploy foiled or an error in creating, posting, or citing the console for the video, we’ll probably never know. But mass opinion is often heralded as universal truth for some odd reason, so your vote really does matter. Last week’s poll results are also posted, so give them a look as well, if you’re interested.

Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy Enterprises, has given his consent for Miley Cyrus to pose for the magazine that is the cornerstone of his empire. This is only once she’s of legal age of course.
Miley Cyrus is the 15 year old daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and star of the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. She is already well on her way to becoming a billionaire and I don’t think she needs the publicity.
