New Nintendo DS coming at this year’s E3?

According to reports (translated, possibly misunderstood, clearly speculative reports), come this year’s E3, Nintendo could be rolling out a brand-spanking-new DS — most likely very unlike the one pictured above. If you follow the text in a Bloomberg Japan article, Famicom magazine publisher Hirokazu Hamamura says that the timing of E3 would fall right in line with the two-year stagger the Big N has applied to other handheld releases. Of course, Nintendo is saying “no comment,” though we find that’s usually the last thing they say before introducing the Wii, Game Boy, N64, Harry Potter Wand, or Ultimate Doomsday Device.

Aliph Jawbone 2 exposed

So there are a couple of big complaints about Aliph’s otherwise-lauded Jawbone noise canceling Bluetooth headset: one, it’s rather porky, and two, the charge connector is about as reliable as a Comcast installation appointment. Hang tight, though, because help is on the way — help in the form of the Jawbone 2. The new model just broke through the FCC’s surly bonds in full visual glory, showing a headset that maintains the distinctive industrial design of the original while getting just a bit smaller and adopting a new connector that looks moderately less sketchy. The last thing we all want to do is blow another hundred on the next best headset, but if this means we can run a teleconference standing next to a freight train traveling 40 miles per hour and do it in style, count us in.

Video: the PS3 Laptop in action

The PS3 Laptop: you saw the stills (if not, look down), now see the video. It’s posted after the break — enjoy.

P.S. -Don’t forget, next week we’ll be putting this one of a kind console up for charity auction. Save your pennies, a Friday night beer only lasts a few minutes, but a Ben Heck PS3 Laptop will last forevah.

50 year old cough drop still tastes good

A few days ago, I wrote about when to trash your peanut butter - but what about cough drops? In this video, a reader of the Mike Industries blog eats a 50 year old cough drop!

The Pine Bros. cough drop is no longer made. However, Mike found some on eBay. After washing off a strange white film that had developed on it, the taster claimed that it was as good as he remembered.

I am opposed to eating any cough drop when I don’t have a cough (let alone a 50 year old one), but to each his own.

Barnes & Noble Has a Massive DVD Sale

I had a plan to be speedy this morning — get my work done and then catch up on other things I need to do. Just as I settle into my chair and plan to begin writing, my friend sends me an IM: “BN.com has a big DVD sale on.” Well, so much for a productive morning. Within moments, I realized that this wouldn’t be a quick 2-minute search. They’ve got thousands of titles marked 40% off or more. I’ve spent the last half hour scouring the site and the selection is pretty darned impressive.

You can score newer films like the largely ignored but completely worth it Imagine Me & You for less than $7. You can get rare, old ’80s movies for less than $5 — heck, even Thrashin’ is on there, that cheesy Josh Brolin flick, for super-cheap. You can get foreign flicks like Eat Drink Man Woman for under $7, which is a big pisser for me since I just bought it used for $15. New and old dramas, musicals, and you can even get From Justin to Kelly for less than $5! But, if you get that, you will be beaten by your shipment when it’s delivered. Guy Maddin, classic action, documentaries, you name it! My wallet is screaming in pain.

To navigate the ginormous sale — get to the 40% off sale page here. Click on your sale category. Then, make sure to click on the text that says: “See all 40% Off or More Action and Adventure in Bestselling order” to get the whole list for that genre. Happy Shopping!

Virus love
Yazna and ++, created by Luca Bertini, are two computer virus in love, roaming from one computer to another computer to find each others. Their passage do not damage computers. Their passage is soft, invisible and extremely fragile. They live a few moments in your more instable computer folders, they leave a small sign of their presence and if they don’t find each other, they go back. In the event of an actual meeting, maybe their will give birth to a wanderful color dot baby. Feel free to look at their posology.

Yazna and ++

Working on data narratives, Luca Bertini created Nacre, a synthesized creature stubbornly trying to protect itself from unmanageable amounts of data. Interferences and anomalies retrieved from the net are perceived as a hostile external body and thus analyzed and converted into a shield through a frantic, abnormal growth.
