Fox Grabs Some Daredevil Cargo

If you read Eugene Novikov’s Aerobatics post yesterday, and were hungry and itching for more, how about daredevil cargo pilots? Variety reports that Twentieth Century Fox have captured the rights to a Men’s Vogue article about cargo pilots called “Anything, Anywhere, Anytime.” (It appeared in the March issue.) The piece was written by Michael Walker, who has previously written the book Laurel Canyon: The Inside Story of Rock and Roll’s Legendary Neighborhood (which is not linked to the film starring Christian Bale, Frances McDormand, and Kate Beckinsale).
The studio wants to turn this piece into an action thriller, which Walker will get to write himself. The cargo pilots are nicknamed “freight dogs,” and their sometimes-dangerous work has them hauling “everything from exotic animals and cars to videogames all over the world.” Walker says: “Freight dogs are the last link to the globetrotting, hell-for-leather pilots Tom Wolfe wrote about in The Right Stuff, except that instead of fighter jets, they pilot old 747s filled with Grand Theft Auto CDs or Formula One racecars.”
