NVIDIA’s 9800 GX2-based Quad SLI solution gets mixed reviewsPosted by: admin in Games newsNVIDIA’s 9800 GX2-based Quad SLI solution gets mixed reviews
NVIDIA’s high-end GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics card has been pretty well received on its own, but it looks to be decidedly more of a mixed bag when it comes to a Quad SLI configuration, at least according to a pair of early reviews. Least impressed with the setup was PC Perspective, which described the system’s performance as “uninspiring” and “frustrating more often than it was fun to play on.” The site did see some potential in the system, however, saying that it’s very possible that NVIDIA will be able to address many of the problems in upcoming driver releases. Slightly more positive about the config were the folks at HotHardware, who were pleased with the performance, and seem to have been more satisfied with the setup’s ability to scale with various applications than PC Perspective was. On the downside, they did admit that the system didn’t scale well for everything, and there is of course the little matter of price (about $1,200), which will likely be pretty hard for even the most die-hard performance junkie to justify.

However, in an effort to woo back customers who have denied the fried for health reasons, the fast food fried chicken joint will start adding grilled chicken to their stores. The chicken will be called Kentucky Grilled Chicken (so it is KGC), but the company will continue to serve its namesake, fried chicken. The new grilled chicken has been and is currently being tested in Indianapolis, Colorado Springs, San Diego, Oklahoma City, Jacksonville, Fla., and Austin, Texas, with plans for the full national rollout in early January 2009. Starz Mounting a Trip to ‘Dead Space’ Filed under: Action, Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Games and Game Movies
Anyway, the game isn’t due to hit stores until after summer, but that hasn’t stopped Starz (and its Film Roman animation division) from snatching the property up and organzing all sorts of nifty little “tie-ins.” For example, first will come a graphic novel from Image Comics. Then the Starz movie. And then the game. The assumption is that if you digest this media in the proper order, it will amplify your Dead Space experience tenfold. Or something. All I know it’s it’s full of monsters and it takes place on a deserted spaceship. Somebody sign me up. For more on the (mostly likely Anchor Bay DVD) movie, check out the news at Variety. For more on the game, check out the official Dead Space website. For a peek at an early teaser trailer, just look below! Cursor 10 Once again, I have about seven projects I should be working on but am instead focused on the internet. Don’t ask me what’s so addictive about this game, but I don’t foresee myself getting any work done tonight. Thanks, internet!

Sony teases us with hot super-limited-edition MGS4 wireless headphonesPosted by: admin in Games newsSony teases us with hot super-limited-edition MGS4 wireless headphones Filed under: Gaming, Portable Audio If Metal Gear Solid 4 truly is the last game in the series (please please no), it’s going to have gotten quite a send-off: a limited-edition gunmetal PS3 in Japan, a new $499 PS3 bundle in the rest of the world, the North American launch of the DualShock 3, and, uh, some wireless headphones. Well, not just any wireless headphones: a limited-edition run of Sony’s hot 7.1-channel MDR-DS7000s, with different artwork on each can. Sadly, it doesn’t look like these are going to be all that easy to get — only 30 will be randomly handed out to those buying MGS4 bundles from the Japanese Konami store from now until June 1. Better get clicking, Sparky. [Via Gemaga; thanks J]

What the charts of these 7 tech stocks are sayingPosted by: admin in Employment opportunitiesWhat the charts of these 7 tech stocks are saying Filed under: Google (GOOG), Apple Inc (AAPL), Amazon.com (AMZN), XM Satellite Radio (XMSR), Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI), Research in Motion (RIMM), Technical Analysis, Stocks to Buy
Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL), after a big drop, has already put in solid sideways price action and if it can break $140, there looks to be a rather clear path to $160. Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ: RIMM) has weathered this storm incredibly well, putting in a solid double bottom in the low $80s and more recently, holding the key $100 level. There’s still resistance at both $110 and $120, so a big breakout doesn’t seem likely anytime soon. Priceline.com Inc (NASDAQ: PCLN) is still in the midst of a strong yearlong uptrend, a mere $10 off its highs. On any market rebound, I fully expect this stock to break out to new highs. LG’s 5.1 megapixel OZ: a Casio W53CA hides behind the curtainPosted by: admin in Technology newsLG’s 5.1 megapixel OZ: a Casio W53CA hides behind the curtain Filed under: Cellphones, Digital Cameras Well lookie here, LG just announced a followup to its LH2300 Touch Web phone. This one’s for the twisty-fold clamshell fans — a design which makes it look positively Japanese superphone-like. In fact, we’re pretty sure it’s just the Casio W53CA with LG branding and new Hello UI for Korean consumption. Interesting given that Korea certainly isn’t lacking in mega-spec’d phones. Anyway, given the Exilim underpinnings it’s no surprise to find a 5.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 28-mm lens, color correction, 9-point auto focus, and built-in anti-shake technology bunged into the backside. The LCD measures 2.8-inches (down from the LH2300’s 3-inch LCD) yet still manages the same 800 x 480 pixel resolution for DMB television and landscape or portrait web browsing. Inside the little 18.9-mm thin handset you’ll find 4GB NAND / 1GB SDRAM and microSD expansion for all your snaps and VGA / 30fps video. Coming to a 3G, CDMA network near you in April… just long as you live in South Korea or Japan. Gallery: LG’s 5.1 megapixel OZ
