Built-in Coffee Appliance

Looks like Brewmatic has unveiled a new design for its coffee maker that is built-into your kitchen cabinet, featuring electronic controls with a programmable digital clock and time with Auto-On function, enabling you to wake up to a freshly brewed pot of coffee first thing in the morning. All this is possible only if you remember to set it up properly before you retire to bed. There are several brew volume options available, including Full Brew, Half Brew and Quarter Brew. I like the way this thing was designed as it definitely helps in saving shelf space which could be used to do/place other stuff. We all know how women love to have a large kitchen.

Homeless Folk Get Free Voicemail

Google is doing something for the homeless community of San Francisco by offering free voicemail - every single homeless person in the city will receive a life-long phone number and voicemail if they decide to take up Google’s offer. This is meant for homeless individuals to get back on their feet by distributing numbers to shelters and job agencies which could help them secure a job as they will then be contactable. I guess this is way more economical compared to providing folk with a laptop and a free GMail account. The program is more than ready to roll out - good on you, Google!

Minimal Dual Digital Analog Alarm Clock

Now this is a pretty looking alarm clock concept that will sit well on your bedside table - the Minimal Dual Digital Analog Alarm Clock. Created by Daniel Jarr, it might lack all the modern trappings such as weather updates as well as traffic information, but at least you can always refer to either the analog or digital displays, depending on your preference. There is also a reason for this nifty concept’s pivoting nature - push down the right side will set the alarm while pushing the left side functions as a snooze. Pushing down the analog clock’s frame provides a light as well. I wonder what happens if you rock the clock back and forth…

Tributaries T12 Power Strip

Most power strips aren’t all that handy when you have tons of appliances and devices hooked up to it. Tributaries’ T12 Power Strip basically, er, strips away all the problems that come with bulky AC plugs - it features unprecedented flexibility with a dozen outlets where eight of them can be rotated up to 90 degrees in a single, convenient package. You also get 4320 joules of surge suppression and noise filtering for AC power, in addition to signal-line protection for telecomm (RJ-11), network (RJ-45), and cable, antenna, and satellite (F-connector) signals. Blue and red LEDs indicate that the electrical system is properly grounded and AC surge protection is working fine respectively. It can be picked up at any retail store near you for $120 a pop, including a three-year warranty on parts and labor as well as a $25,000 warranty for connected equipment.

Misubishi ARLEDIA For Long Term Storage

Everyone knows that bit rot occurs on DVDs and CDs, which is why it is better to also make a backup of your important data such as photos on a hard drive as yet another cushion. The Mitsubishi ARLEDIA DVD-R is position to deliver a long term DVD-R optical media storage platform, thanks to the gold and silver reflective film layer that prevents chemical oxidation while improving reflectivity for superior compatibility and durability where optical media is concerned. Mitsubishi claims that its 4.7GB DVD-R has double the life expectancy of a standard DVD-R. How many of you perform backups on DVDs?

Samsung Air-conds Head To Asia

Looks like Samsung’s air conditioners that include the company’s proprietary Micro Plasma Ion (MPI) technology will finally arrive in Asia (Singapore, to be exact) after making its debut in US and Europe last year. The two models are the Vivace Shadow Mirror and Neo-Forte, packing more than enough firepower to rid the air of up to 78% of fungus and 58% of bacteria within half an hour in an enclosed environment. The MPI system will function hand in hand with a carbon deodorizer that removes odors and bacteria. It also boasts a Silver Nano evaporator and a Catechin filter developed from a green tea extract. Guess Asians can now breathe healthier now too, eh?

MSI GX600-08 Has Turbo Battery

MSI’s GX600-08 notebook comes equipped with Turbo Battery Technology that purportedly extends battery life up to 20% when compared to standard notebook computers. Whenever Turbo Battery Mode is activated, the computer will reshuffle the system within by the workload in order to help you conserve battery. Sounds pretty handy for those who tend to travel a whole lot without bumping into too many power outlets.

Solar-powered Laptop

Check out this solar-powered laptop concept that relies 100% on the sun’s rays to keep it going. I don’t know about this idea - laptops are notorious for their high power consumption, and they won’t be able to last too long without being hooked up to a power outlet. After all, you wouldn’t want to work under the sweltering sun, do you? The batteries within are recharged by a wide Solar Panel which is hooked to the computer, where features on the laptop include satellite link GPS, internet access and a satellite telephone. I just wonder how many hours of sunlight are needed to fully charge up the laptop. Hopefully as solar panel technology advances, it will become more efficient and such an idea will be made a reality.
