Child Burned by PSP Console

Clickondetroit is reporting (watch video) that a kid has been burned when his PSP battery overheated and burned a hole in the pocket’s pants. The child has been hospitalized but he is now back to school.

The local fire department is trying to figure out what happened and why the battery overheated – to the point of melting the device’s case. Ironically, the game in the console was… “Burnout.

Jessica Alba says she plans to speak to her baby in Spanish exclusively.

The problem? Jessica doesn’t know Spanish.

“I wish to God that my dad spoke Spanish to my brother and me, but he didn’t grow up with it.”

“Hopefully I can pick it up because I want my kids to speak Spanish. I don’t even want them to speak English for maybe the first two to three years, until pre-school.”

“We’re in the United States so they’re going to learn it anyway.”

Miley Crrus

With the 2008 Grammy Awards coming up this weekend, there’s a lot of preparation to do. And Miley Cyrus was all about joining in the fun last night.

The “Hannah Montana” actress was spotted at the InStyle and Grammy Salute to Fashion in Los Angeles, California looking every bit the pop star that she it.

She wore a multi-colored multi-texture mini-dress as she posed for the cameras upon her arrival. And it sounds like the Grammy’s are just the beginning of awards show appearances for the teen queen.

Reportedly, Miley has been nominated for two Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, including “Favorite Female Singer” and “Favorite Female Actress,” while her show “Hannah Montana” is nominated for “Favorite TV Show.”

So, for all you Miley Cyrus fans out there, don’t forget that online voting opens on March 3rd. Jack Black will be hosting the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards on March 29th.

Gemma Arterton

Calling her a “nature goddess”, the BBC is pursuing girl of the moment Gemma Arterton to star as Thomas Hardy’s earthy heroine Tess of the D’Urbervilles.

The 22-year-old actress is currently shooting the new James Bond film, Quantum Of Solace, on locations in Panama with 007 Daniel Craig. Gemma’s playing the kick-boxing Agent Fields.

The actress, a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, read for the part of Tess in front of executives from the BBC’s drama production section.

One told me: “She’s unutterably beautiful, but the key thing here is that she’s an actress, not just a face - a real star in the making.”

Indeed, this column wrote about her a year ago when she was still at RADA, before she was cast in St Trinian’s.

She also played Rosaline in director Dominic Dromgoole’s Shakespeare’s Globe production of Love’s Labour’s Lost.

BBC insiders confirmed to me that they are in “serious negotiations” for her to lead the four-hour dramatisation of Tess, which will film late next month in Hardy country in Dorset.

Tess is different from the usual bonnet brigade of TV adaptations in that it’s not about people bowing and scraping.

“It’s more passionate, and the novel was quite daring for its time,” a BBC executive told me.

“It’s not about posh people, it’s about country people, people of the earth. In many ways, Gemma’s a nature goddess, as Tess is herself.

“Also, Gemma’s very down to earth, which is perfectly fine, with all this attention going on around her.”

Tess Of The D’Urbervilles will be screened on BBC1 in September.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton has become a toy. The 26-year-old beauty’s likeness has been reproduced in doll form by German company Simba Toys.

Simba executive Juergen Deschner confirmed the dolls - which were personally styled by Paris - will go on sale in Europe later this year.

The different toys come complete with silver highlights, sparkly miniskirts, evening dresses and even mini MP3 players.

The Paris range will be released alongside Simba’s most famous doll, Steffi Love, the German equivalent of Barbie.

They were launched on Wednesday (06.02.08) at Germany’s Nuremberg Toy Fair, the biggest event of its kind, by a Paris look-a-like.

Although Paris - who has signed a two-year deal with the company - is happy with the range, she previously turned down an offer to be made into a sex doll.

She said: “I turn down perverted things, some sex things. Like a Paris Hilton blow-up doll. This company was like, ‘They’ll sell for $50,000 each, it’ll be the real-life you.’ And I’m like, ‘I really don’t want a real-life me with anyone, anywhere. No!’ ”

Isla Fisher is not inviting Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn to her wedding to see if they crash it.

The 32-year-old actress - who is engaged to ‘Borat…’ star Sacha Baron Cohen - wants to test her ‘Wedding Crashers’ co-stars to see if they live up to their characters from the film.

She joked: “I’m thinking of not inviting Owen and Vince to our wedding so I can see whether they can crash our wedding.”

Isla - who stars in new romantic comedy ‘Definitely, Maybe’ - has converted to Sacha’s Jewish faith so they can marry in a traditional ceremony and is pleased with her decision.

She said: “I love religions and find them fascinating and I find Judaism very beautiful. It has enriched my life enormously.”

The red-headed star has a four-month-old daughter, Olive, with Sacha.

In keeping with two weeks ago, Capcom will be placing a multiplayer demo for the upcoming Xbox 360 port Lost Planet on the US PSN Store the same day it arrived in Japan. As with the DMC4 demo two weeks ago, Europe has missed out on the demo and so will probably get it next week - though no doubt most of you will be picking it up from the US Store today anyway.

The US Store update isn’t up yet, but we’ll let you know what’s available as soon as we find out. If you don’t want to wait until then, you can go ahead and grab it from the Japanese Store. It looks like the servers are worldwide, meaning the version you have won’t restrict who you play against. Read our complete impressions here.
