The New Planet Otterbox Website for the Adventurous Geeks

Today, OtterBox re-launched its Planet OtterBox website where the adventurous geeks can post their stories, photos and now videos of their OtterBox experience. Now users can easily browse the stories on a Google map. The new adjustable bar below the map allows users to see more or less entries based on dates. Every month the top story wins a $100 cash prize and the top yearly submission wins $1000.

See on the image above Peter Ottersbach’s photo representing him with his waterproof OtterBox box, 40 feet underwater in Monterey Bay; he is a monthly winner.

Please note: the website will not appear exactly like the image above, we created a composite image to make the website features and Peter Otterbach’s story more clear to our readers.

Next-Gen MacBook Pro to Feature Multi-Touch

It’s not surprising to learn that industry insiders firmly believe that Apple will integrate the MacBook Air’s Multi-Touch pad in upcoming MacBook Pro laptops. The more interesting point is that the pads themselves are going to get larger to improve their usability.

Apple fan sites have been reporting that the new MacBook computers would be announced within weeks. The multi-touch pad won’t be the only update: we expect Apple to announce the use of Penryn, Intel’s latest processor evolution. That means a small performance boost and hopefully a better battery life.

Mmm, the Satin Silver PS3. Scheduled for a ¥39,980 (about $374) March 6th release in Japan with matching ¥5,500 (about $51) DualShock 3 controller. The disk capacity you ask? 40GB, that’s your only option in Japan albeit in your choice of three colors.

Motus Darwin Wiimote

We’ve always said that Sony or Microsoft could create their own Wiimote and quite frankly, it’s not clear why they have not done so yet (other than to avoid potential lawsuits?).

The Motus Darwin is a multi-platform Wiimote-like device that works, among other things, on a PC. You you go on the Motus website, you’ll see that they originally created the technology to help golfers improve their swing. Does it mean that Wii-like games will now spawn on other platforms?

Darsheel Safari akka Ishaan Awasti of Taare zameen Pa, has won millions of heart across.

Check that evil scowl will you. You’re looking into the menacing red grill of Dell’s newest gaming desktop the XPS 630. Dell’s site modestly teases, “Here comes a new challenger.” Challenger eh, not leader? Come on Dell, you’re not going to generate any gaming hype with such tepidity. Drop in some NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics and say it loud, boy. Just not too loud, you don’t want to step on the toes of your Alienware subsidiary.

Update: Mystery solved. Looks like Dell dropped the “i” from the XPS 630i which we had the chance to get up close to at CES. It’s just an mid-level gaming rig. Nothing to see here folks, move along now.

[Thanks, Thomas C.]

Satin PS3 Launching in Japan

I initially wanted the Ceramic White PS3, but the Satin Silver one might be good enough to go with the rest of the living room… humm..

Sony announced that a 40GB Satin Silver PS3 would be available in Japan only (for now). That’s in addition of the Black and Ceramic White version, the latter is also available in Japan only. Hopefully Sony will be done with this experimentation in Japan soon and will start to make all the silver and the white version available outside of Japan.
