With White Jazz seemingly shelved for the time being, Smokin’ Joe Carnahan is in a fighting mood and not about to let anybody knock his Pablo Escobar biopic off its perch. And what exactly does he think of the Oliver Stone-produced Pablo biopic that’s to be directed by Antoine Fuqua? The one that will focus on Pablo’s relationship with his brother and start shooting in early 08′? Um, not much. On his blog, Carnahan takes that subject head on, stating that the movie is “getting turned down by a lot of folks … memo to aspiring screenwriters, if you want to know how not to write a screenplay, pick up that piece of shit and use it as reverse tutelage.” Ouch. But he’s not done yet. “It not only does a disservice to the craft of writing, it mocks one of the greatest figures in Latin American history with a non-existent, wholly fictionalized Butch and Sundance angle involving Pablo and his brother Roberto. It’s laughably lame.”
Nope, he’s still not done. “Good luck chumps. And it doesn’t matter if you get out of the gate six months earlier than me. I will have an announcement after the new year that will absolutely break your hearts and kill whatever middling credibility you have … and you deserve that heartbreak, trying to push a shitty, insultingly bad Pablo pic into production against mine and being nasty and conniving and devious about it.” He closes his rant with a “war is war” warning, but isn’t very specific about what provoked all this ire. Does anyone have any more info on this brewing Pablo biopic war?

It took me years to get that horrible Natalie Imbruglia pop song out of my head, and now the singer/actress might be about to return to the spotlight. According to The Herald Sun, the Aussie-born actress was recently in Sydney to film a “secret screen test” for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is gearing up production as we speak. No further information was available on exactly what kind of part Imbruglia was testing for, but one can only assume the 32 year-old beauty was up for the female lead. Imbruglia has recently re-focused her career on acting and back in October we noted that she was playing the lead in the Australian drama Elise, about a missing child. She also appeared in a 2003 action comedy called Johnny English, which was unseen by me but was apparently not very good.
Earlier rumors had Maggie Q latching onto a lead female role in X4, but nothing has been confirmed yet and there’s always a possibility that there could be a female villain in the mix. Liev Schreiber is also supposedly circling the role of young Stryker, but we recently passed on the news that Brian Cox is also putting X4 on the resume he’s currently sending around, so that adds to the confusion. One of our commenters recently pointed out, however, that the film may be going in the direction of acknowledging that Wolverine is a very old character, which would necessitate the young and old Strykers both being in the film. Makes sense, right?

LG’s new eXPRESs S900 notebook blurs the line between a notebook and a desktop, boasting a massive 19″ monitor with desktop computer components housed within. Frequent travelers who want something light and portable will probably have to forget about lugging this monster around as it is bound to result in sore shoulders after a while. Features include a 3.5″ hard drive (250GB to 320GB capacities), an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Windows Vista, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA’s GeForce 8600 GT video card, a DVD Super Multi Drive, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, a 1.3 megapixel camera and a handy multi-card reader. Unfortunately, the LG eXPRESs S900 notebook has a miserly battery life of just 30 minutes. If you’re still bent on picking one up, it retails between $1,300 and $1,750.

Not using voice, but by projecting the number on the ceiling or wall automatically whenever there is an incoming call. The power-saving LED light is capable of lasting approximately 100,000 hours so unless you run some sort of telemarketing business from the home, chances are you will probably throw away the Projection Telephone outside long before it has outlived its usefulness as you yearn for something new and fresh a few years down the road. Looks more like a novelty item to have than anything else to me. The Projection Telephone retails for $29.15.

Sony’s new Bravia SXRD VW40 will be the first LCoS-based 1080p full scale projector to retail for less than the magical $3,000 mark. It can be pre-ordered today for $2,999 and will be available from the end of next month onwards. Features include 15,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 900 lumens, 200w UHP Lamp, 2 years warranty, 24.25lb and audible noise at 22db. Will this cheaper projector make you move for your wallet, or will you continue to adopt a wait-and-see attitude? In due time, the SXRD panel will probably replace Sony’s LCD line of 1080p projectors.

Global warming will not only affect us humans, but a large number of animals as well. Sustainable Pet Design has come up with the Greenrrrroof that looks like a standard doghouse at first glance, save for the fact that you have stuff growing on top of it. This layer supposedly insulates against temperature and noise better than the standard shack you call a doghouse, filter runoff water, filter the air while looking good at it. In addition, each Greenrrrroof is made out of non-toxic materials like zero-VOC paint and beeswax. If you want to do your part for the environment the next time Fido requires a new home, why not give Greenrrrroof a shot? Would be nice to see solar panels included to provide your pooch with heating during those cold winter months.

Rumours that Jennifer Aniston is expecting her first baby have been dashed after the Friends actress denied the claims and followed it up by having a swift drink with friends.
Representatives for the 38-year-old Friends star issued a statement that simply said: ‘She is not pregnant.’
They were responding to US and UK reports that Aniston was expecting.
In further proof she is not carrying a little bundle, Aniston hit the town with former co-star Courteney Cox for some martinis at Mastro’s in Beverly Hills.

It appears that despite the fact Christmas has come and gone, Sony is still very much in the giving mood. Right now, it’s offering a free 80GB PS3 if you purchase a select Sony HDTV with the Sony Card. We’re not sure exactly why, but something smells a little fishy here.
For the most part, Sony is offering up its Bravia line and a few of its rear-projection models in the deal. And since Sony may be dropping support of its rear projections anyway, you might want to choose a Bravia if you’re serious about the deal.
To apparently make the deal a little sweeter, you won’t have to pay interest for the first year. However, if you don’t pay it off within that time frame, the interest, which is at 14.49 percent, is retroactively tacked on. We’re not sure how many of you are without a PS3, but this could be one alternative if you expect to come into a healthy sum of money once a rich relative “kicks the bucket” in the next year.
