Ron Paul Raises $6 Million Online in 24 HoursIn the list of Republican candidates vying to take over Bush’s seat in the White House, familiar names like Giuliani and Romney took early leads in polls. However, as we move closer to the various state primaries, a new picture is emerging in which lesser-known candidates with different messages are finding success online and, amazingly, leading the polls. One of those is Ron Paul, whose online supporters drummed up $6 million in funding in a 24-hour period.

The money was raised from a so-called “Money Bomb,” Paul’s second. The first, back in early November, raised $4.3 million in a day. This latest one broke John Kerry’s record of $5.7 million raised in a day during his campaign. With such huge successes, there are rumors of a third “Bomb” day in January.

Ron Paul has certainly captured a lot of attention with his strong civil libertarian and fiscal conservative views, wanting to end Federal income tax and cut government spending.

Probably because it’s not that big of a player in the domestic cellphone space, Toshiba may not be familiar with all the ins and outs of FCC confidentiality agreements, as evidenced by its testing subcontractor leaving tons of juicy photos of the unannounced Portege G910 / G920 smartphones in those devices’ recently-declassified applications. Tosh’s blunder clues us in to a whole world of info about this followup to the WVGA, Windows Mobile 6 Portege G900, such as the fact that it’s eschewing its predecessor’s sliding form factor for the clamshell-design of the Nokia E90 (perhaps an answer to the tilting screen of HTC’s TyTN II?). While full specs aren’t yet available, we’ve pieced together that these devices (differentiated by the fact that one of them will have a crippled GPS receiver) are tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 — sorry, fellow Americans, no US broadband here — with WiFi, Bluetooth, and dual cameras, and powered by a Qualcomm processor of unknown speed. Hit up the gallery below for a few more inelegant FCC glamour shots, including some dissection photos that may help our clever readers glean even more information…

There isn’t necessarily any single morsel of news here, but 3G Americas — the group responsible for keeping GSM on the up and up this side of the pond — just wants everyone to know that it likes AWS’ chances for gaining ground in this part of the world for new HSPA (and eventually, LTE) deployments. Yanks may know AWS better as the weird flavor of bandwidth T-Mobile has gotten stuck with for deploying its desperately overdue 3G services; it utilizes spectrum in both the 1700 and 2100MHz spaces to push bits around, and while it hasn’t yet been commercially deployed on a wide scale, the consortium points out that AWS spectrum auctions are in the pipe for Canada, Chile, and Mexico, among others. Naturally, that’s very good news for anyone who finds themselves shopping for an AWS handset down the road, seeing how broader support across borders leads to broader manufacturer support — a fact that 3G Americas is also quick to note. European and Asian buy-in is another matter altogether, but we’ll take what we can get.

True, the tantalizing rumor of a TomTom GPS for the iPhone suffered a rather untimely demise, but not to worry — as a navigation aid, we figure the iPhone’s sizable touchscreen and dock connector just make too much sense for a GPS solution to not get willed into existence. Engineering firm partfoundry is taking a real (as in, confirmed) stab at developing a custom, purpose-built GPS module that slots into the iPhone’s port, delivering 16 channels of satellite reception to the software of your choice. Notice the “of your choice” there — it looks like partfoundry will be requiring jailbreaked phones and relying on the developer community to serve up apps capable of processing the module’s output and making use of it. The current plan is to get these bad boys out of the door in February, though they’re taking orders now for $89. Oh, and don’t worry, there are plans for a “stylish plastic enclosure” to bring the 1337 hax0r appearance down a notch or three.

Tara Reid was rushed to a hospital after collapsing in a nightclub.

A source said: “She was having a couple a drinks and then all of a sudden she lost her footing.”

She is out of the hospital now, and is recovering in a hotel room.

Earlier this month, Tara hosted a ‘Hookers Ball’ in Australia.  According to the club’s manager:

“We thought Tara Reid would be a great choice for it. It was a kind of naughty night, like ‘pimps and prostitutes’.

“Tara was very enthusiastic to come and do it.”

That new PS3 firmware that just dropped has a little more going for it than just DivX and WMV support — Sony’s enabled PSP Remote Play of PS1 games from a PS3, no matter whether they’re downloaded from the PSN Store or the actual physical games inserted in the PS3’s drive. Our peeps at PSP Fanboy tested it out and found it worked great with both a downloaded copy of Wild Arms and the disc of Metal Gear Solid. This means you could theoretically leave all those pesky UMDs at home and play games from anywhere in the world with a net connection — as soon as Sony gets some more PS1 games online.

Halo Ultraviolet Vacuum It is not a vacuum with Master Chief on it, but instead it is a Dyson vacuum that packs ultraviolet lights (UV) to zap bacteria on the floor and carpets. Obviously it also removes the dirt… The video on Amazon would have you think that dead bacteria, killed by the UV rays, is easier to vacuum than live bacteria. I didn’t see that one coming.

The UV lights should kill bacteria, but is this… “overkill”?
