PSP owners will soon be able to enjoy the wonders of streaming Internet radio thanks to its firmware update 3.80. Currently, screenshots of the software abound, showing only “powered by Shoutcast” as a sneak peek. Other improvements include better OPML and image handling in RSS. Unfortunately, there is no word on a US release date yet so you will just have to wait for the suits at Sony to pony up an official announcement in due time.

The Color Photo Viewer from Sharper Image is pretty interesting considering how it features a panel of blue touch interface buttons neatly lined up under its 7″ LCD display. Other than watching your favorite photos in an infinite loop, you can also tell the weather for the next few days thanks to a built-in weather station. Important information includes indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity, the forecast and moon phase. In addition, the Color Photo Viewer doubles up as an alarm clock - relying on the ultra precise US Atomic Clock so you will never be more than a minute late. 128MB of internal memory and an SD memory card slot rounds off the list of features for this $199 device.

GreenPlug will be previewing its first environmentally-friendly DC power hub at CES 2008, being a reusable, multi-port power supply that can provide a universal power interface for all electronic products. In addition, it exceeds all current US and European governmental efficiency regulations while eliminating environmental waste - helping you keep the earth green. In the future, devices enabled with GreenTalk will be able to digitally communicate with power supplies to shut off whenever they no longer require power in standby or no-load mode. Not only that, consumers can configure power supplies to charge devices during off-peak hours, helping ease the load on the power grid during peak periods. Not only that, GreenPlug technology encourages consumers to keep their chargers for use with future devices after their current devices have become obsolete, minimizing solid waste.

Yesterday, we ran the Guardian piece on Paul Haggis and noted that he hasn’t yet laid claim to a title for his upcoming Bond film, still called Bond 22. Today there’s more to report. This is very sketchy, and I’ve tried in vain to find the source video to investigate it myself, but here goes — AICN is reporting the following, from a tipster who watches British television. Daniel Craig was on a U.K. television show called This Morning and some discussion of the title of the upcoming Bond film led to Craig maybe saying the title was going to simply be 007. Again, that’s a giant maybe, because even the talkbackers on the AICN boards have noted that this appears to be more of an unfounded conclusion on the part of the commenter than anything with grounding. Specifically, Craig is “paraphrased” by the commenter as saying “It’s more of a number. Because the first movie dealt with him earning his 00 status and now he is 007 for the first time.”
Okay, what is more of a number? That’s what’s unclear here. The tipster is maddeningly vague on this point. After pasting the paraphrase from above, he goes on to say that Craig was specifically asked if 007 is the film’s title, to which Craig responds that he ‘may have said too much’. But did this come in response to the direct question about the title? If the interviewer put the question directly to Craig and he answered with “It’s more of a number” then that’s something. Otherwise, I think this is nothing more than a wild goose chase. By the way, I really need to get a life, don’t I?

Now this is a poster. This is probably one of the greatest posters we’ve seen all year (click on the image above for a larger version). Why was this the international poster? Doesn’t really matter, though, because regardless of whether it’s domestic or international, the poster still exists and it still kicks a whole lotta ass. Yup, that’s Batman looking over the city he’s supposed to protect. You can look at this image from a few different angles; the way I see it, the evil in Gotham City is growing so large, it’s almost consuming the one man there to protect it. Like The windows look like a prison cell, as if the caped crusader is being held hostage inside his own home. Man, I love it. And, additionally, after the jump we have another poster featuring the Joker. Both marketing materials are marvelous to look out, with this one up top being my favorite. The new trailer for The Dark Knight has also leaked online, but it’s of the crappy shot-in-the-theater variety. And you don’t want to watch it. Trust me. Feel free to search around for it, but if you ask me, hang out for the HD version which is sure to arrive online within the next day or so. You’ll be happy you waited. The Dark Knight arrives in theaters on July 18.
Additional poster after the jump …

The Storm Riders was a riotously silly martial arts fantasy that divided audiences when it was released in 1998 — either you got with the groove and rocked out to the comic book style writ large or you fled in terror from its extravagant empty exercise in style over substance. Initially I recoiled from its excesses, but a second viewing (only partially influenced by a moderate intake of a certain alcoholic beverage) was much more enjoyable. To get a better idea of the craziness, check out Kozo’s review at LoveHKFilm.com.
Directed by Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs), The Storm Riders was a huge hit and a much-needed shot in the arm for the beleaguered post-Handover Hong Kong film industry. Given the industry’s proclivity for churning out sequels in rapid succession, it’s rather surprising that a direct sequel was not immediately forthcoming, but soon the wait will be over. Screen Daily is reporting that Universe Entertainment has hired Danny and Oxide Pang (The Eye, The Messengers) to helm a sequel.
The original film was based on a comic book series and featured an all-star lineup headlined by Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng. Three months ago, Grady Hendrix of Kaiju Shakedown reported that one of the Pang Brothers was interested in buying the rights to the comic book; his version would be unrelated to Andrew Lau’s film but with Chen and Kwok returning as the heroes, Wind and Cloud (cool character names, by the way). Lau reportedly had his own plans for a direct sequel which have not yet come to fruition.
The comic book series has enjoyed a near 20-year run, so there are plenty of stories to go around. An animated feature based on the series and entitled Storm Rider Clash of the Evils is due out next year. We’ll have to wait for details to see what live-action story the Pang Brothers will be telling.

“Marc Caro, hmmm,” you may be thinking right now, “Oh yeah, the guy who, along with Jean-Pierre Jeunet, directed Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children and (unfortunately) Alien: Resurrection! Where’s he been for the past few years?” And that’s a good question. While his former partner has spent the years since Alien 4 making movies like Amelie and A Very Long Engagement, Monsieur Caro has done … not a whole heck of a lot, which makes the arrival of this slick-looking genre film a little more exciting than the arrival of just another slick-looking genre film.
According to the Twitch lords, Dante 01 is about a prison at the end of the universe that undergoes some horrific changes when a mysterious survivor arrives at the facility. (Frankly, that premise sounds like it could just as easily belong to a Sci-Fi Channel exclusive, but Sci-Fi Channel exclusives are generally not directed by guys as talented as Mark Caro.) As they’re apt to do (and do well), the Twitch guys have been following this French import for quite some time now, and their latest piece offers the first few minutes of the movie for your perusal. (Hope you guys paid attention in French class!)
When you’re done there, feel free to pick through the film’s official site (also in French, obviously.) No word yet on when Dante 01 will be arriving stateside, but it opens in France on January 2. When the Twitchers learns of a North American release date (or perhaps some festival screenings), they’ll be sure to let us all know.

Thanks to another set of ambitious iPhone hackers, we’ve officially got video on Apple’s wonder-device (that somehow omitted video to begin with). It’s not much right now, but if you want, you can see your phone recording five succulent seconds of real-deal video at around 15 FPS. The developers say this is just a proof of concept, and they’ve been able to get up to 45 FPS on the device — so hopefully we can expect a more robust version soon (like, say, one that lets you save the recording). Check the video after the break to see the gorgeous work in action.

What’s that, you say? Reportedly, that picture you see above is the Motorola A1600, which could be the long-awaited successor to the A1200 MING. Granted, we’ve no proof to go along with it, but the design sure fits the mold. According to Chinese-based eNet, this bugger will sport quad-band GSM connectivity, a 3.2-megapixel camera (with autofocus), WiFi, assisted-GPS, a couple of built-in games, a “talking dictionary” and a Linux-based OS. Interestingly enough, that last tidbit certainly conflicts with other reports we’ve heard, but we suppose time will tell (look for a February launch) what system really ends up running the MING 2 show.
