Sometimes those rumors are spot-on. Just like we heard, Nintendo is launching two special-edition Nintendo DS bundles for the holidays. The Gold edition ships with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass while the Metallic Rose ships with the Best Friends version of Nintendogs. Each comes emblazoned with the series’ signature logo, “a shiny nugget that any gamer — girl or guy — would be proud to show off.” Right, ’cause all gamers love to show off their nuggets. Available on November 23rd for an undisclosed price, though expected to be $150 like the rumor said.

It wasn’t all that long ago that director Ang Lee was opening eyes and pushing boundaries with ‘Brokeback Mountain,’ a film about sweaty cowboy man love. Now he’s back with another controversial film, but this one’s stirring up a different sort of controversy, this time in China. The hullabaloo features an interesting mix of warnings from a variety of sources, including both physicians and computer scientists who are all urging caution in viewing the film.

The first warning appears to be intended to stop Chinese computer users from downloading illegal copies of the film. A Chinese anti-virus company is saying that those copies of the film that can be found online come with a virus. The firm isn’t detailing just what virus it is, but says the virus contains code to snag user passwords.

The second warning comes from Chinese physicians who warn that the … erm … extreme sexual positions demonstrated in the uncensored version of the film (which is seven minutes longer than the heavily censored version shown in China) rely on “abnormal body positions.” They advise that only women with “comparatively flexible bodies that have gymnastics or yoga experience” dare try them, or risk “unnecessary physical harm.”

We’re not sure how much of these examples are sound warnings from concerned experts, and how much is a sort of combo smear-campaign against both illegal downloading and illicit films. We here in America think that if you’re planning on seeing this film — and we don’t recommend it since it’s likely to be an illegal copy — you should fire up your virus scanner and either do a few stretches, or call up that gymnast you dated in college.

SingStar is heading to our European friends in just a few weeks, and already videos of the final game are leaking onto YouTube. This one caught our fancy due to its focus on the various themes you can apply to the SingStar interface. Video backgrounds mesh quite harmoniously with the music and colored menus. Sexy! In fact, we like the menus of SingStar so much, we’d love to see some of this style end up in XMB themes in the future.

Zac Posen has a fondness for teachers, he told PEOPLE at a recent Teachers Count benefit at NYC’s Royalton Hotel, where he auctioned off items to benefit the charity. “All of my teachers have been incredibly formative relating to fashion,” says the 26-year-old designer, “they pushed me intensely and challenged me.” So it’s natural that Posen would do the same for his students: namely, friend and former intern Ashley Olsen. “Ashley was present through a season in the studio one to two days a week, and I tried to create as hands-on an experience for her as possible,” says Posen, who accepted the former Full House star as an intern after she literally came knocking. “She came in person and knocked on the door to get her internship, which is four steps farther than most interns go. She had that drive and that’s what makes someone special.’ And now that she’s running labels The Row and Elizabeth and James with twin sister Mary-Kate, Ashley “has a lot to learn still,” Posen admits, “but she definitely learned perfectionism and elegance!”

Still enjoying my break, maxin’ and relaxin’. But here’s a shout to you poor saps who get up far too early to shop for presents on this, the Black Friday.

I hope none of you were subjected to this.

Fun side note - I just recently learned that the day before Thanksgiving is known as black Wednesday to some bars, as it is for whatever reason one of the biggest drinking days.

Another note - Ignore ebaum’s watermark at the bottom of the video. That’s not where I found this, and Ebaum is well known for stealing everything and marking it as his anyway.

The first footage (more like a teaser trailer) for The Forbidden Kingdom has popped up online, and the flick — which stars both Jet Li and Jackie Chan — looks pretty damn awesome. There’s that one female with the grey hair who kept reminding me of Storm from the X-Men flicks, but aside from that it appears we’re in store for a wild ride. According to the teaser’s intro, the film has wrapped principal photography and is now in post-production. Rob Minkoff (The Lion King) directed, with fight choreography from Yuen Wo Ping (The Matrix films, Kill Bill) and cinematography from Peter Pau (Shoot ‘Em Up). Needless to say, I wouldn’t expect anything less than awesome with that team behind the camera.

Apparently the film follows an American teen obsessed with martial arts who uncovers a magical staff that transports him back to ancient China. There, he meets up with a band of martial arts warriors on a quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King. I know, it all sounds nuts, but check out the video above — the film, visually, looks fantastic. The Forbidden Kingdom is set to arrive in theaters on April 18.

So the Samsung A747 for AT&T is finally here, ‘cept it’s not the A747. Instead, the slim clamshell has been appropriately christened the “SLM.” Think of the SLM as a juiced version of the also very thin A717, carrying over the 2 megapixel cam and attractive brushed metal exterior while adding a much larger 96 x 96 external display and support for Napster Mobile — a first for AT&T. Get the SLM beginning November 23 for $150 after a $50 rebate on a two-year contract.

Georges YaredNot so fast, you folks crying bear! In the latest edition of StockWatch: Between The Bells, BloggingStocks‘ own Georges Yared says this is still a bull market, although it’s undergone significant correction. The chief investment strategist of Yared Investment Research says this is a market of much opportunity.

Take the Nasdaq’s 6.5% slide last week, for instance — Georges says Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), both hard-hit last week, are now priced to move. Apple shares have slipped below $165, down nearly $30 just from last Wednesday, but the company is upbeat about this year’s holiday sales. Likewise, Google has dropped $125 from its 52-week high of $747.24 last Wednesday, presenting another buying opportunity.

Georges hasn’t lost faith in Crocs (NASDAQ: CROX) either, and expects the breakout shoe brand to stabilize at around 35% to 40% growth annually.

What to avoid? Georges says steer clear of the big-box retailers and department stores like Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) and J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP), and probes Wal-Mart’s recent earnings report.

Lastly, Georges recommends investors consider Bank of America (NYSE: BAC). Georges says Bank of America is managing the financials’ current credit crisis better than its banking peers, and he expects Bank of America to continue growth through 2009.
