History buffs and cellphone aficionados, take note: a couple of wireless picturephone prototypes (circa 1993) have recently been acquired by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and should soon be available for all to gawk at. Reportedly, the institution joined with Daniel A. Henderson to get ahold of the two devices and related documentation, which were built to take advantage of a picture / video receiving technology known as Intellect. Notably, this ain’t Mr. Henderson’s first time donating wares with varying levels of historical significance, as he’s also responsible for the Casio Z7000 and Atari Portfolio that are on display. Interested in checkin’ the duo out for yourself? Go on and circle summer 2008 on your calender.

After realizing that nectar from Free Radical’s upcoming Haze FPS would transform an ordinary Sixaxis controller into the rumblelicious DualShock 3, it looks like Mantel Global Industries is back again with even more interesting experiments. What happens when a PS3 is injected with several doses of the bio-enhancing drug? Apparently, the price just keeps dropping and dropping.

While we’re pretty pleased with the current price of the 40GB model, we wouldn’t have been upset if they gave a few more squirts to knock the price down even more!

Roboscorpion gift idea for kids Surely you would want to avoid any kind of last minute hassle, jostling with other rabid parents for a gift to bring home to your kids, do you? Make it a point to shop for Christmas early then with the Roboscorpion. Patterned after the poisonous desert dweller, the Roboscorpion is equipped with an independently moving head, tail, and claws that lethal enough to cut through human skin and bone. I like it so much, I’m afraid some parents might even want to keep one for themselves.

“Good traders know how to make money, great traders know how to take a loss,” Todd Harrison advises in the latest edition of StockWatch: Between the Bells. The prudent founder and CEO of Minyanville Publishing and Multimedia recommends always working with the market: “Trade to win, never trade not to lose.”

His advice? Todd suggests continued focus on the energy and metals sectors, noting growth in China and other emerging markets around the world. “I think in a globalized economy, you want to stay geared toward things needed to feed, educate and power the world.”

Echoing other StockWatch contributors, Todd warns it’s too early to return to the financial stocks, which have lost 14% this year amid the ongoing subprime mortgage crisis. While the discounted shares might see a near-term bounce, “if you see any gains in these names, as a long-term investor, you might want to move to the sidelines.”

So is technology an option? While tech shares have performed strong this year, “it’s important to note that three stocks — Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), and RIM (NASDAQ: RIMM) — represent over 50% of the gains to date in the Nasdaq.” Todd cautions that this narrowing leadership is often a bearish tell.
