The PDVD8088 portable TV and console from Shenzen Aude piles on the retro mood, featuring an analog TV receiver as well as a built-in NES emulator that relives your glory days in the 8-bit home console. Should you run out of analog TV channels to watch, there is always the integrated controller to help you rescue Princess Peach from the evil Bowser. Features include a relatively large 8.4″ TFT display with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. It is capable of DVD playback and supports MPEG4 and MP3 file formats. A USB port and an FM receiver round off the list of specifications. Guess China’s slowly but surely catching up on the technological curve…

As a general rule, I’m not much of a game player. I’ve never been a huge fan of cards and most board games leave me cold. The one exception to this rule is in the area of trivia games. I LOVE trivia and often will excitedly pull out my aging copy of Trivial Pursuit when someone mentions the possibility of playing a game. Couple that trivial obsession with my fairly well-established love of food and you understand just how ecstatic I was when Foodie Fight showed up in my mailbox late last week.
The game contains a set of trivia cards, six game boards, content-area pieces and a colored die. It is packed into a compact box that has a hidden magnet closure, so that the lid clicks into place pleasingly. You can play on teams or as individuals or you can be like me and start playing against yourself. When it arrived I immediately opened it up, settled into the loveseat in my living room and read the questions on more cards than I care to admit (no one is actually going to want to play it with me after they read this post). I knew quite a few of the answers, but was stumped more than once.
While I’m looking forward to playing the game with other real humans, I’m already certain that it will be given a place of honor right next to my other trivia games, to be trotted out any time someone says, “Hey, anyone want to play…”

Imagine your cellphone as a mini marketing machine. A kind of 24/7 advertising engagement–on a phone, no less–may sound like a nightmare. Before the bell: Futures slip ahead of economic data, after Greenspan warns
The blogosphere is abuzz over Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone. The company had said that hacked phones will not work following yesterday’s software update. Guess what? The company didn’t lie and depending on which unlocking program was used, certain modified phones no longer worked after they installed the software update. Many are furious. Is this going to be a PR nightmare? Will Apple fans actually speak out against the company?

With the crying babies, cramped quarters, spiteful flight attendants and pilots who like to get cute over the PA, air travel is truly one of life’s more miserable experiences. For London-based advertising startup Ad-Air, though, it’s the perfect time to sell you on something (hey, it works for SkyMall).
Next month, Ad Air will begin placing ads on the ground along the flight paths of the world’s busiest airports. Of course, since the eyes meant to view these ads are thousands of feet above the Earth, the advertisements are epically massive: approximately five acres each, or about four times the size of your average football field.
The behemoth billboards are placed on temporary framing just above the Earth and are surrounded by fencing or landscaping so that they’re invisible from the ground. They’ll be lit up at night if local legislation allows, and when placed over fertile land they’ll be made of a PVC mesh to allow air and moisture through — otherwise they’re made from giant sheets of vinyl.
With the deals it’s currently negotiating, Ad-Air estimates it will serve ads to up to 10 million captive viewers per year. The first ads roll out in Dubai this October, and London’s Heathrow airport has signed on as well.
Is anyone else a little saddened by this? To those of us without a B.A. Baracus fear of flight, watching the homes, trees and cars zoom into focus as you come in for a landing is the one part of flying that’s actually enjoyable. It seems another one of life’s simple pleasures has bitten the dust.

OK, so this wouldn’t be the first time that fans of Megan Fox were duped into thinking the Transformers babe had landed her next high-profile role. I mean, we all saw how that Half to Death deal turned out. Creature Corner is reporting that sources are confirming Fox was “incredibly interested” in the lead for the big-screen version of the graphic novel Hack/Slash. The comic was originally published back in 2004 for Devil’s Due Productions and centered on a ‘slasher‘ hunter named Cassie on a mission to rid the world of evil with her trusty partner Vlad. The casting rumor has been around for a while now, but it seems talk of Fox’s involvement with the film just won’t die (and even though I have never read the comic, just from the few stills I’ve seen so far, I have to say that Fox is a dead ringer for the lead). Since news of Fox’s involvement has hit the official MySpace page for the comic, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get some kind of answer from the production in the near future.
Hack/Slash was picked up by Rogue Pictures back in December. Here we are almost one year later, and there hasn’t been a peep out of the production until now. When word of the project first emerged, director Todd Lincoln told Movieweb the film was going to have “a sprinkling of humor to balance the scares, but this will be a lean, vicious, blood-soaked, Hard-R fright fest. The goal is to create the ultimate slasher film.” Fox has already proven that she can hold her own with giant f**king robots, and the promise of her in some of those outfits is probably enough to pack theaters night after night — at least with adolescent boys. Until we hear something official, though, you guys will just have to rely on your imagination.

You’ve already seen it in Japan for months, now HTC has officially launched their HTC Touch Dual (as they now call it) for Europe. Once only known as the Nike, the Touch Dual now measures in at 107 x 55 x 15.8-mm / 120-grams (slightly different than its Japanese sib) and packs WCDMA/HSDPA 2100MHz and GSM/EDGE 900/1800/1900MHz radios. Of course, it brings the TouchFLO interface riding atop Windows Mobile 6 Professional and 2.6-inch QVGA touch-screen as you’d expect. Inside you’ll find a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM7200 processor; 256MB flash, 128MB RAM and microSD expansion; Bluetooth 2.0+EDR; 802.11b/g WiFi; HTC ExtUSB (HTC’s mini USB 2.0 jack with support for data and audio); and enough juice to power WCDMA talk for up to 240 minutes or up to 360 minutes on GSM frequencies. Available this month on Orange in select European countries. Pricing? Yeah, we’d like to know that too.
Update: Whoa Nelly, what’s this? No WiFi? Although we’re fairly certain we saw it (wishful thinking?), a second look at the specs reveals the lack of WiFi on this HTC device. Oh my.
Update 2: We just received confirmation direct from HTC: no WiFi unlike its Japanese twin. Yes, we’re also surprised. %Gallery-8013% [Thanks, Rob]

It’s one of our less-creative headlines and the picture sucks, sure, but it gets the point across. Fanatec has released a very accurate (we assume) racing peripheral for all your gaming needs, especially if you like to game in luxury. We’ll get right to the features, some of which are cool and practical, others are cool and not as practical.
- Leather steering wheel!
- Wireless USB technology, where the USB plug is shaped sort of like a Porsche key. It’s quite neat.
- 3 force feedback motors, so you can really feel the road.
- The pedals are wireless too, with clutch and soft-stop brake. Like you’d really get an automatic fake Porsche anyway.
- You get two gear sticks: a regular sequential and a 6+1 H-pattern stick. The latter is only supported on PS3 and PC.
What we find really neat is the quote at the bottom of the website: “Only available through Porsche dealers and here in our web shop.” So, if you guys aren’t comfortable ordering this thing online, get yourself in a nice suit and pretend to care about buying a fancy new Porsche, then buy this instead. It’s only $350, after all. Pretty cool for the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, right?
