Last year’s small taste of next-gen GT, Gran Turismo HD, is being removed from the Japanese PlayStation Store. Makes sense, considering Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is just around the corner. Beginning September 30th, the free download will no longer be available. The online stats tracking service that’s included with the demo will continue, however.
There’s no word on whether or not the US version of Gran Turismo HD will meet the same fate. It was a great gift while it lasted, and it’s time to move on to bigger (and hopefully, better) things.

Flipping through my Campbell’s Soup cookbook this afternoon, I stumbled across one of those recipes that makes you stop and marvel at the creativity of the human brain. Because it takes a certain kind of person to think, “Gee, I think that tomato soup would be the perfect addition to a chiffon cake!” According to the blurb just above the recipe the tomato soup gives the cake “a wonder-what-it-is flavor and rosy color.” I’m sure it does. I’d love to hear if anyone has ever made a tomato soup cake, as I’m dying to know how it tastes.
Recipe after the jump.

While there’s no indication that they got the game to test it with, the folks at the FCC did at least get to spend a bit of time with the new wireless guitar for the PS3 version of Rock Band, which is more than enough to make us a tad envious. Somewhat interestingly, the guitar looks to come bundled with a fairly unassuming-looking dongle (check it out after the break), which would seem to be unnecessary if the guitar used Bluetooth, as some had previously speculated. Otherwise, the FCC filing looks to be about as standard as they come, complete with a snippet of the manual, a slew of test reports, and a few shots of the guitar’s innards thrown in for good measure (click on through for a glimpse of that).

Long associated with no-frills design and affordability, computer manufacturer Gateway seems to be changing its tune in a big way with the unveiling today of its new Gateway One PC.
Compared to the surprisingly sleek M-series laptops that came out a few weeks ago, the One, with its slanted, all-in-one, flat-panel design, is even more of a departure for Gateway.
Sure, it may look like a black iMac, but it’s got some extra twists that make it impressively innovative. For one thing, it’s got a one-cord design, which means just one cable goes from the back of the monitor to a power adapter box, which is where Gateway cleverly located all the typical computer cable outputs. In other words, it’s perfect for uncluttered desks or even a table, since it basically looks like a flat-panel TV.
It also has a cool “hidden” flat-panel SoundVu NXT speaker, which uses elements of the screen and the bezel to create a sound robust enough to rival external speakers (which would ruin the sleek looks of this all-in-one PC, anyway).
We saw this baby a few weeks ago when Gateway stopped by to show us, and it’s every bit as sleek as the iMac, for all you PC lovers out there. We just got our hands on one, too, and will report back when we’ve had some time to play around with it.
The Windows-Vista-enabled PC starts at $1,299 at the Gateway Web site and Best Buy and comes in three configurations:
The $1,299.99 configuration includes an Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 dual-core processor; Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100; 320GB SATA II hard drive(2) and a 1.3 megapixel Web cam.
The $1,799.99 configuration includes an Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 dual-core processor; ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics; 500GB SATA II hard drive(2) and a 1.3 megapixel Web cam and an analog/digital TV tuner.
The Gateway One model available direct from Gateway includes an Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 dual-core processor; ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics; 400GB Serial ATA II hard drive(2); and a 1.3 megapixel Web cam for $1,499.99.
Hot, hot, hot! What do you think? Is this thing sleek enough to replace your iMac?

The SlingPlayer for Symbian S60 phones is now available for sale, enabling a slew of compatible Nokia handsets to stream TV from the entire range of Slingbox models. This new standalone software delivers full-screen playback as well as WiFi streaming that was not found in the previous edition that was available pre-installed on models sold by British wireless provider 3. The SlingPlayer will retail for $30 in US, C$35 in Canada, and £20 in the UK. If you picked up the Nokia N95 in the US though, that fee is waived. Alternatively, you can always try out the free 30-day trial version before making that all important purchase decision. Portable TV on the small screen? I suppose this is a must for TV addicts who absolutely need to know what’s happening in their favorite series no matter where they are. Whatever happened to delayed gratification these days?

I think Warner Bros. is really screwing up by rushing its Justice League of America movie, but then, I was never a big DC superhero fan, so I don’t care. There are millions of fans who do care, though, and for them I hope the studio doesn’t ruin it. After all, there are franchise spin-offs expected, and if a character is badly cast, that hero might unfortunately remain miscast for more movies to come. Sure, some people would love for Smallville’s Tom Welling to play Superman in Justice League of America (although, as Erik pointed out before, that probably isn’t happening), and even continue in future films, replacing Brandon Routh in Bryan Singer’s series. But at least the actor has already proven himself worthy of the part to many fans. What about Wonder Woman, for whom comic geeks have debated the perfect actress for the past few years? Everyone’s favorite Amazon will not likely be played by Charisma Carpenter or Katie Holmes or Eva Green or Nadia Bjorlin or Megan Fox or Sophia Bush or Jessica Biel or Rachel Bilson or Katherine McPhee or Priyanka Chopra. However it could be the very beautiful and very much unknown (in the U.S.) Victoria Hill.
According to Moviehole, the Australian actress has tested for the role. It makes sense now that Aussie director George Miller is officially on board, since he plans to shoot the thing Down Under, and would benefit from having a local cast. Although Americans may not recognize her, Hill can currently be seen in the limitedly released December Boys (aka the movie in which Daniel Radcliffe isn’t Harry Potter). She was also seen (nude) by a few people earlier this year in Geoffrey Wright’s updated Macbeth. Fans of Xena: Warrior Princess who want to check the actress out can break out their Season 6 set and view her in two episodes. Of course, you might want to hold off on holding your own audition of the actress (by way of her past work), because she hasn’t actually been cast as Wonder Woman just yet — she’s only tested for it, which could mean nothing.

Details (other than super-nerdy RF interference specs) are light right now, but an HTC device labeled the “Phoebus” just hit the FCC’s website, and a look through the specs reveals what appears to be a GSM 850 / 1900 device, with a 2 megapixel camera. Unfortunately, there’s isn’t a shot of the front of the device, so you’ll have to make do with this sexy shot of a flayed backside while we dig up the real.
Update: Goodness, the back end of this thing certainly bears a striking resemblance to that of the Dopod C750, doesn’t it? Looks like this could be the upcoming Juno for T-Mobile.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction has finally gone gold. For those that are unfamiliar with the industry lingo, that means the game is done and is being manufactured for the masses to enjoy.
But, hidden in the good news comes the bad — Tools of Destruction is getting a delay. Yes, a tiny one, but a delay nonetheless. You can now expect the game a week later: October 30th. The demo will arrive “by October 11th,” although the demo was originally planned for a October 4th release. The demo will be based on the E3 demo, the one which features Metropolis.
Stay tuned to PS3 Fanboy as we have tons of Ratchet swag to give away.
