John Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, released a statement on Preston’s official website on Sunday.
It is the couple’s first public words since the tragic and sudden death of their 16-year-old son, Jett, on Friday.
They say:
We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences.
Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us ahope for a brighter future.
With love,
John, Kelly and Ella
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in the Bahamas.
But, by multiple accounts, Jett’s death was just an unfortunate and horrible accident.
Our thoughts go out to the Travoltas and their family.

What was the top TV story of the year? The choice was obvious to all of us, and probably all of you, too: The election. The 2008 race for the White House was not only historic, it was dramatic and played out more on TV with recognizable star personas than any election in recent memory.
And like a great TV show, it was a season-long run of highs and lows, tension and release, defeat and victory. Along the way, Americans made a choice about who will run the country for the next four years, but they were also entertained by a near constant barrage of media coverage in the form of maximum cable news, thousands of commercials, daily political commentary both serious and comic, a plethora of debates, and — naturally — Saturday Night Live’s take on it all.
It all started about a year ago in the cold of Iowa and New Hampshire…

Jamie-Lynn Sigler and partner Holly Freeman showed off their new jewelry line, CJ Free, last night at Switch Boutique in Beverly Hills just in time for the gift-giving season. “This is really still the beginning for us, but we want it out there for the holidays,” Sigler tells PEOPLE of the rose gold, white gold, and yellow gold collection, which the duo started working on in June. The line, named after Freeman’s 18-month old son, starts at $60 for beaded bracelets for men and goes up to $3500 for diamond-studded pieces like the rose-gold chunk pendant Sigler donned for the soiree. “When people wear jewelry they want it to have personal meanings sometimes, so we pride ourselves on being able to customize things the way you want it,“ explains Sigler, pointing out the various charms, stones, and beads that can be added to the pieces. The actress, who donned a black Mason ensemble from the boutique, insists her foray into the accessory world is no vanity project. “This is not a celebrity line. If anything, my name comes last. I definitely have my creative input, but this is our project together. This is real,” says Sigler, who sketches ideas for charms ranging from angels to baseball bats, the latter of which was inspired by her father. Also looking real: her rumored romance with Entourage co-star Jerry Ferrera, who showed up late and wrapped his arms around her and swayed to the tunes on the tented patio outside. Also in attendance were stars Stacey Keibler and Lance Bass, who told PEOPLE “I love it!” Click here to order select pieces at switchboutique.com. – Jenny Sundel

Page Six is reporting that Jennifer Lopez was so concerned that Marc Anthony might cheat on her while he was on tour, she sent her assistants along with him:
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have recently been photographed without their wedding rings, but the marital discord apparently started much earlier.
“Despite the fact that the couple renewed its vows in October, a source tells Page Six that Lopez used to send her assistant on tour with Anthony while she stayed at home with their twins.
“She wanted reports back so he didn’t cheat on her,” says our source.
“Lopez and Anthony are also reportedly selling the $8.5 million Bel Air estate where they were wed in June 2004. Lopez’s rep did not respond to a request for comment.”

Reese Witherspoon used to dare her brother to touch skinned raccoons in their freezer. The “Four Christmases” actress was terrified of the dead animals her doctor father sometimes received as payment from his Tennessee patients, but the animal corpses inspired a popular game between her and sibling John.
She is quoted as saying: “One year, a man brought my father a dead skinned squirrel and a dead raccoon.”
“My father put them in the freezer. My brother and I were so scared of them.”
“We were afraid to go near the freezer because my dad kept them in there for three years.”
“We’d dare each other to touch them and look at them. It was very scary.”
Reese - who has two children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe - also revealed the presents she likes to give people at Christmas.
She added: “I like to give plants. I know that sounds really boring. But I like to give lemon trees and other trees that bear fruit.”
“Fruit trees are really nice gifts to give because they keep on giving and they’re not something that’s just taking up space.”
“They’re nice things to have in your garden.”
